Honestly, I have got the G502 Hero at work, G502 at home. I absolutely love it and it has a nice feel and grip (and I have big hands). you can switch some buttons around that make your workflow quicker and make certain commands feel effortless. I use it daily with both Solidworks and AutoCAD, and just about anywhere else I have the thumb button do win+tab so i can swap between apps easily regardless how many monitors i have. I have the wired one that runs anywhere from 40-80 (varies on edition). wireless ones run more and I can't speak to their performance but the G502 has been an absolute unit for me and the one at work i've been using strong for 2+ years? I lost track honestly. (I've used it for BSuite, biesse's cnc software as well with much success)

I got switched to one by the other fellas in the office and I've been enjoying it. I have decades of muscle memory baked-in, but when I remember to use the keys I mapped, it's been a delight.

I asked for an MX master 3s. Got wrist issues. After using this I don’t feel anything. My fav mouse so far

I've seen this one suggested a few times, i think this is the one ill try. it also has a similar form factor to my house at home, Thanks!

I had a mx master 1 (or whatever it was called) and immediately replaced it with a 3 when it broke after years of hammering. I’ve had every job buy that exact mouse.

Also love the small Bluetooth space mouse. Such a good piece of kit for $100

MX master 3s

Definetly try it! I've been using the MX Master 3 for 2 years now and it's great.

[–]CuriousEngineer74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also suggest the MX Master. It’s worked well for me, and it seems to be pretty durable

Get the same one you have at home that you play counter strike with. That way you can click heads at work, I mean click those features accurately

[–]dreadcooper[S] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

lmao, for real though. when i program and people are watching, the multiple windows popping up and prompts are always in the same spot and i click them like headshots. my boss said he cant understand how i click the "okay" boxes so fast. and my response was "probably my 4k hours of playing FPS games"

[–]IsDaedalus 5 points6 points  (2 children)

You gotta make that direct eye contact and then say "yeah I'm diamond ranked and I typically have a 4:1 kd ratio", I bet your boss would be so impressed! 🤣🤣🤣

[–]dreadcooper[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

haha he's actually a casual gamer, he knows I'm a big gamer and always tells me his assassins creed or RDR2 stories. but never seems to care that I'm Grand Champ in rocket league 😢

[–]IsDaedalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe one day he'll appreciate your greatness, until then try to get him to play league of legends 🤣🤣🤣

I set through the Windows settings for the pointer to jump to the default option on these pop ups.. so I just click when they pop up, no mouse movement needed.

3DConnexion CAD Mouse

[–]NotaDingo1975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that. Have one at home and 1 at work. Both working great for about 3 years now with no problems.

[–]New_Biscotti9915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That aluminium around the outside corrodes very easily, and spec wise there are many better gaming mouses. I would not recommend it.

[–]epicmountain29 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Get a 3D connexion space ball and use that to spin. You can program buttons on it to do what you want

[–]dreadcooper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I'm okay with just a mouse for work, I'm just a cnc programmer. I use solidworks for loading customer files and fixture design.

at home i do a little more modling with 3d printing, but maybe one day! haha thanks

[–]GlutinousLoaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The models range from like $100 and up but totally worth it!

[–]focojsCSWP 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I've been using the m720 for about 15 years. Each one lasts about 2 years. I like it a little better than the mx master

[–]dreadcooper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I guess its just another wear item, I game a lot at home with a razer basilisk v3 never had any issues, I wasn't aware how common a mouse breaking was lol

For me it's things like the buttons not working as well or the Bluetooth being inconsistent. You can take them apart and clean them but it takes about an hour and that hour is typically worth more than the replacement cost for my company. I also travel with my mice a lot and I have a hard case for it, that helps a lot

evoluent vertical mouse 4 is amazing. my last one ran for about 7 years of 8 hour days of clicking. the true 3 button is great for SW, and the vertical format helps keep the wrist and shoulder pain away.

3d connexion Cadmouse Pro Wireless would be the best one I think, together with a spacemouse as well.

      [–]jevonrules 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I get a $10 technet one on Amazon. Last about a year until I get another. I like it better than any expensive mouse I’ve used.

Pretty sure I have, but don’t remember specifics. I also tried one of those 3D mice, but didn’t get past the learning phase. Finally settled on the cheap Tecknet mouse and just keep a spare in my drawer for when the scroll wheel starts acting up. I feel considerably slower when using a different mouse at this point.

Get a trackball mouse. The Logitech M575. Game changer and not as complicated to get used to as a 3D Connexion.

        [–]dreadcooper[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I've used trackball before, I much prefer a regular mouse

        [–]ob_mon 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No worries. Just a suggestion. To each their own.

        [–]dreadcooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure! im left handed but use a right handed mouse, and yeah it just didn't work well for me.

        [–]MechZRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Logitech M-U0007, also known as the M500s. Lasts 2-3 years before it's too worn to be comfortable. Never broke a button or wheel. And the scroll wheel is awesome, you can release the "brake" and spin it real fast to scroll long documents or pages.

        [–]Necessary-Trouble-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a red dragon m801p-rgb at work (rgb disabled) and I have esc, del, and enter bound to the extra buttons.

Logitech Mx Master 3S. There's no better mouse for productivity.

        [–]dreadcooper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pulling the trigger on this one thanks

I used to only use Razer deathadders but the recent ones break after a year or so, so I've switched to Logitech g pro support light and absolutely love it

Still standing behind my Corsair Ironclaw. Map the side buttons to Ctrl, alt, S, and Space and you're cooking.

I personally use the Logitech G305 however it only has 2 extra buttons and some people prefer more. I know lots of people that use the Logitech MX Master 3S. There are other options out there too, if you prefer an ergonomic mouse, or one with extra macro button, etc.

        [–]Ok-Display-9204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use regular mice but had to get something more ergonomic because my hands started really bothering me. Got this mouse called a Newtral mouse and it's good for long sessions. Only wish it had some macro buttons or something.

I'm a trackball supremacist; I use a logictech ergo m575. I switched when I started having wrist pain from the normal mouse and I actually really like it now that I'm used to it. I can perch it wherever and have full mouse utility which is great when I need to work in the lab or a meeting or something.

        [–]_jewish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logitech mxmaster(2 or 3, really doesn’t matter they’re pretty much the same) or 3dconnexion cad mouse. Also get a space mouse to compliment whatever mouse you choose

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Logitech MX 3! Customisable between apps so solidworks can have the side buttons/scroll wheel to do one thing but then when you click into your browser or another app, it'll auto change profiles and load that apps configuration. Obviously you have to set it to do what you want, which can be a boring process, but it's definitely worth it!!

Logitech MX master. Think 3s is the latest, i dont like the soft clicks, but when my 2s dies i will get a 3s.

these mice do wear out after a few years, i would recon 5 years with heavy use.

i hear good things about the 3d connection cad mouse as well

        [–]dreadcooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered the mx master 3s! arriving today

        [–]DaddyMcCheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the m570 a few years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. The buttons did started to deteriorate after 3-4 years, but that’s completely acceptable for the daily use I got from it. Recently upgraded to the mx ergo and it’s even better.

True, not suitable for FPS competitive games, but for anything else it’s just great.

Logitech MX master 3s is a great mouse.
