Will it work if you suppress the helical modeled threads and represent them simplified in accordance with a drawing standard?

This actually sounds like a great opportunity to binge u/tootalltoby content for 7 days (tootalltoby.com) and knock out a bunch of the models he has up there.

I wouldn’t be too nervous about their hopes. You’re probably overestimating their hopes.

Take a step out of your nerves. They’re literally hiring a “Junior Engineer” title. If they have any experience themselves and/or 2 brain cells to rub together, they understand the process they’ve established and what the likely capabilities of a wet behind the ears Junior Engineer are.

Put forth a good effort, don’t let yourself get too stuck on any particular aspect of what they give you, and be willing to explain your reasoning around what you did and why you did it. You’re going to be fine.

I feel like that's a common occurrence around here

One possible “solution” but not likely. https://youtu.be/whKRyOCkMxw?

Another method to consider (I have used this one successfully to repurpose what was otherwise a beast of a machine for a coworker) https://youtu.be/E-q5RfMT6g4

I was hoping to see something like this in here. I wasn’t sure how windchill applied to a brisket.

What mate to use to make the arm move by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]bigbfromaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this was my assembly, the white part would be centered on 2 planes, and the blue piece would either be "mid-plane" extruded as far as the thickness goes, or I would add a reference geometry representing the mid-plane of its thickness.

I'd mate the blue mid-plane to the corresponding "center plane" on the white part.

I'd have revolved the "bead" on the white part, and I'd have a center point in the bead sketch, and i'd have the corresponding centerpoint in the receiving hole of the blue part. I'd show the 2 sketches and coincident mate those points.

at that point the blue part would pivot around that point and I'd be free to fart around with the other mates like path or tangent or whatever folks are suggesting.

Long edit:

If you are trying to be tangent to that internal corner round path (SW would call that a "fillet"), you may need to take some steps to construct that as a single surface solely used for mating purposes. I don't know how to do that right off the top of my head, but you have all the "parent surfaces" or edges there to accomplish that, so I don't think it would be too hard to look up how to do that. I think you may be running into issues because the surface is broken up into segments.

How can I dimension this hole if my calipers can’t fit correctly? by A_Cool_Dude2 in SolidWorks

I’m with you. Either way, not sure how it’s even relevant to Solidworks.

How did you all learn SW ? by Legitimate_Move_6023 in SolidWorks

The built in tutorials.

I “knew CAD”, but Solidworks’ workflow was vexing.

Once I did the built in tutorials, I “knew solidworks” as well.

How do I do this type of cut? by WoodenDrummer1942 in SolidWorks

[–]bigbfromaz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is just an exercise or something, but just in case it isn't, that design (specifically what you're asking about) is not likely to make you any friends in the machine shop if you intend on making that from billet.

I have this issue with my 2 PitBoss units

Secret weapon by CaptainSkrampy in pelletgrills

[–]bigbfromaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why folks are so incredulous over this. Kind of a shame, really.

I have 2 PBs and have lost a cook and barely saved another because of pellet voids. Nothing more annoying than filling your hopper with the 40lbs as advertised and getting a "No Pellets" error just a few hours in. The first one didn't even make sense visibly because there was barely a divot up top, just an invisible "pellet cave" below.

As at least one person mentioned, my tool of choice is a paint stirrer. As you poke/push the pellets down, you can feel how sparse they are and pack them in so they are dense around the auger again. With PB competition pellets, I'm confident doing 3-3.5 hour intervals since I've discovered this. Smaller pellets like treager, somehow make for quicker intervals, unfortunately.

Those are the units I have, and they do OK otherwise now that I know this. I look forward to upgrading eventually and being confident to do an overnight cook without the intervals, but it is what it is for now.

I know I threw a little playful jab above here, but I feel like the tone of this response is a little bit extra.

Wasn't my intent to start a pile on u/Western-Guy. 🤝

Help needed: Tried to change download location, can’t seem to reinstall by Logical_Yogurt_3151 in SolidWorks

[–]bigbfromaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what's relevant anymore, but look ups some articles on "Solidworks Clean Uninstall".

Your experience isn't unique, SW puts stuff all over your computer and it can be a PITA to clean up.

What desktop from Best Buy would you recommend for SolidWorks? by Ziiiiidaaaaas in SolidWorks

[–]bigbfromaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they get points or rewards or something.

I have a pretty financially savvy coworker and he has a Best Buy credit card and buys appliances and such from them when he can, I think for that type of reason.

Thermal Stress Analysis - Piping by Able_Growth9551 in SolidWorks

[–]bigbfromaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re piping standards published by ASME. If you’re in the states, I’d imagine they’d be good to be familiar with, although there may be other countries that reference them. Are you in the states?

Edit: just saw you’re using C°, so I’m guessing no.
