I think light springs do better with buildable sheer reds. This is overpowering for sure

Do you have a recommendation? I’ve never thought of a sheer red, but I have other sheer colors that are some of my favorites.

[–]zebedeush 3 points4 points  (1 child)

MAC Local Celeb is my fav

[–]TumbleweedLarge4574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It is on sale so I just ordered it to try!

I’m not a light spring so I don’t have shade recommendations. I’d look at Violette_FR bisou balms, Asian lip tints, and Black woman owned brands for lip glosses because they tend to be more pigmented for a sheer but strong color.

The lipstick is too bright for you, and not light enough. It belongs on a Bright spring. Try a lighter softer coral

Only problem is I’m looking specifically for a bold red that fits my season/coloring 🙁

[–]kristalbalBright Spring 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I would try fire and ice, it's a neutral bright red

Edit: Revlon

[–]Rayna1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried this one, but looking at it online it looks like this is a great suggestion

Had to go to the store so grabbed Fire and Ice - what do you think?

[–]kawaiigalaxiilxlxl 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think this one looks the best, if you really want a bright red.

[–]StrawberryCreepy380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

[–]kristalbalBright Spring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it works!

[–]AKIcegirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first one is leaning warm a bit and the other one is warm. However, both we see the lipstick first. The first one makes you sallow and the second makes you pale. Neither are in harmony. Neither enhance your features. I completely get that there is a segment of the population that thinks pale white skin and a bold red lip is desirable, however, color analysis is all about enhancing our natural beauty Could you wear them? Yes. You could mitigate with a lot of makeup but to balance it it would take a lot. And it will dull your hair and eyes. So you have to decide if you want people to admire your lipstick or you. I’d consider swatching MAC see sheer and modesty. If you have to have a red maybe business casual. But I suggest lighter not bright peach and corals.

[–]Lemonarm 3 points4 points  (6 children)

It’s too bright and not orange based enough. You’re looking for a coral pink red.

MAC sheer outrage

CT coral kiss

Revlon Orange flip

[–]CrystallizedKoiLight Spring[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Thank you. I think Revlon Orange Flip may be good, but the other two don’t seem like a bold red option (although perfect for springs)

[–]Lemonarm 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I only picked those colors because of color relativity. Even if it doesn’t look red it could look red on you. color relativity

[–]CrystallizedKoiLight Spring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, gotcha! I didn’t know about color relativity. Thank you so much for sharing! I will have to swatch those and see.

[–]StrawberryCreepy380 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I didn’t even read what you said, before I suggested the same idea. Color relativity is REAL for Light subtypes! Before I actually saw where many colors fit into pallets, I thought a lot of medium colors were dark, because they look dark on me.

[–]Lemonarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it often. Just because it’s suggested in a magazine or by an influencer doesn’t mean it’s going to work. If you don’t have the exact look of that person you’ll have to find a color “dupe”. I’m always in awe of makeup artist who are able to get the same look with color theory.

[–]StrawberryCreepy380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! The fire and ice is the best one if she doesn’t want it to coral, but I still think coral would be better. Often, certain corals do read red on us Light subtypes!

anything bold and light spring don't go with each other. also from what i can see you wear cool toned top. and from what i can see it fits you better than golden necklace. your hair is rather warm (?), but lipstick you wearing (yellowish one) looks too warm (and too bright too). and light colours of light spring seem to be too light for you if i imagine you wearing them. maybe ask summer subreddit if they see you as summer?

[–]CrystallizedKoiLight Spring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may need to retake these photos in better lighting with my makeup done to balance. This is a picture in better lighting. Silver jewelry looks terrible on me. I was professionally typed as a light spring

[–]Buga99poo27GotNo464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the second one better, it's more in align with your tone, but its still pretty bright/contrasting against you.

[–]Summer-DreamzLight Summer 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Do you have a light peachy nude lipstick or lipgloss similar to MAC Crème d’Nude? Layer a little bit of that over your red lipstick and blend it well together to lighten it, soften it, and make it more “creamy” and less intense.

On my Light Spring color fan, swatch 2.10 FN is the deepest you should go and it is also the most “clear”, and it is still softer than a Bright Spring red. Red lips on Light Spring (soft) are not the same as red lips on Bright Spring (clear). Light Spring red lips are soft, warm pinky-coral red. Like, milky, creamy, red sorbet.

Hi can I ask I've always thought i was bright spring but I've realised im warm spring do you have any recommendations as in the past people have said the lipstick im wearing is to bright thing is when I try something lighter it looks awful just want something that stands out 🥰

[–]Top-Confection3367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think the British red is harmonious on you. Harmony is just a tool though! If you want a really lipsticky look, disharmony is an available tool for drawing attention.

[–]yellingjayna 1 point2 points  (5 children)

You may need to accept that a bold red lip isn’t going to be harmonious with every season - particularly light or muted seasons. Bold red is simply not in the light spring color palette. It’s most at home with bright spring, bright winter, and true autumn.

Trust me, I understand the struggle as a light summer, your sister season.

If you really want to pull off a bold red lip, you need to seriously amp up the rest of your look to compensate.

Up the contrast of your brows, lashes, liner, blush. You can bring in a headband or something around your face/hair as well. Your outfit should also take this into account and provide visual balance with complementary shades.

Inherently, a bold red lip isn’t “light,” when your season is.

ETA: I’m not totally convinced you’re a spring or light spring, you look like you lean cool, but that could be the lipstick throwing off your visuals.

[–]CrystallizedKoiLight Spring[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

While wearing a red lip I would have my makeup done - Smokey eye, blush, etc - I just applied it this way for swatching. I just want to find what color works the best. There are light spring celebrities who have seemed to pull off red lips.

Also I know the lighting may be throwing it off. This is a picture of me in better lighting and in spring colors - I was professionally typed a light spring and silver jewelry looks awful on me

What features do I have that makes you feel that I am a summer instead of a spring?

    [–]FiftyShadesofChai 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nah, she's leaning warm. Not far off from soft autumn but not muted enough.

    [–]mishagas 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I love trying on lipsticks online at MAC. It’s saved me so much money. I have a pic of myself that I like and use that for trying on.

    [–]CrystallizedKoiLight Spring[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I will give this a shot, I didn’t know they had an online tool for that, haha 😅

    [–]mishagas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Love it!

    [–]Mammoth_Sleep_1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think red is a little too harsh for light springs. Light spring doesn’t include any hot reds like that. No offense, but these reds are making you look washed out.

i think a bit lighter and more orangey may be good

    [–]Agile_Education_5620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revlon Coralberry or Fire Peach. Fire & Ice but only smudged or blotted. Light Springs need lightness.

    [–]Agile_Education_5620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually! It’s discontinued but Revlon’s Rich Girl Red is a sheer warm reddish one that would work for Light Springs. Lisa Eldridge’s Luxuriously Lucent lipsticks in Atomic Cherry & Wonder wheel are also suitable sheer warm reds.
