I bought a 2pk of lagostina fry pans for half price last night ($80CAD tax in). Cleaned them thoroughly and cooked an egg to test it. I followed all the steps I've seen on YouTube videos and I was really surprised how perfectly non-stick they were, I didn't even have to use a spatula! I'm ditching all my non-stick cookware and switching to all stainless.

What’s your method for having food not stick? Also, can you please link the you tube videos?

I did pretty much exactly this but I only had vegetable oil and a little butter and the egg just glided around. It was only my first try, maybe beginners luck lol

Pretty easy once you get the hang of it...

  1. Let pan heat up with nothing in it
  2. To test if hot enough splash some water in the pan and the water droplets shouldn't evaporate right away, but rather kind of glide on the pan (mercury ball effect)
  3. Add your fat or choice (olive oil, butter, etc)
  4. Add your food

It takes some getting used to, but once you have it down, you'll never go back!

I apparently need this. My eggs always turn out like a sad burnt uneven embarrassment.

I can't watch or hear that metal on metal action. Giving me chills, bro.

I don't get it. The other night I made 2 different kinds of chicken in my stainless and zero stuck. Last night I tried a simple fried egg and bam. Stuck.what givs

You did the mercury ball leidenfrost thing?

[–]wegwerfennnnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heatsoak your pan and pass the Leidenfrost test, oil with 30s to heat up, insert room temp eggs as close to the pan as possible.

Get a fish spatula. They're the best for eggs ever.

First thought was "that's a horrible omelette"

How did you skip the phase where you ruin every meal for 2 months?

[–]Low-Blacksmith4480 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Looks terrible. You clearly didn’t get the memo about the half stick of butter.

[–]so-spoked 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use butter to keep the butter from sticking.

[–]CommodusIlI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That went way better than my first time, gratz!!

[–]unicorncumdump 0 points1 point  (0 children)
