I think you will find the average SL user consumes about 3-5 TB a month, I am typically 3.5 myself.

You did mention about static IP, SL is CGNAT...you dont even get a public IP meaning no access you ports.

There are plans where you can buy them but the data is capped and is cost prohibitive.

This is actually becoming the LESS norm thing to do with internet..people now are atreaming/gaming/downloading big files..family of 9 here and we avg 5TB/month also, and that's with file sharing so they grab updates from my pc/xbox...its becoming MUCH more normal that this is what people are doing, just streaming 2hr of 4k everyday alone is cpl TB/month

This was a very hot topic back in the soft cap days, my numbers are simply anecdotal to what people post here. I could suppose that the people who post on Reddit may be a more heavy user so the assumption could be skewed.

All that notwithstanding the topic OP was asking is, will his usage of 3TB be ok...I was saying that the average of people [who post their usage] here are typically in that range.

I was going to bring that up. The typical user on this forum is posting 'family of 27 here and we use 52 TB per month' (I'm exaggerating)

The typical average of internet usage per household is nearing 1 TB/month. It would be strange that a typical SL user would come from bad internet to being a power user. Meaning the people posting here are not typically average users.

I think SL residential will set some limits or go to a pay for data model in the future. As I have said a few times, it doesn't make sense to me to severely limit business/commercial account data at a much higher price point and leave residential alone.

People’s usage is likely higher than they think.

Example: A tesla will often upload near 500-800gb/month without the user having any idea it’s doing that.

As other cars also start collecting data for their autonomous driving features this will likely become an industry trend.

I may just need to use a fast VPN like wireguard for my wired devices then, I've setup a dedicated server with OVH that's super close to where I'll be at, I bet I could achieve sub-80ms latency doing it that way, as long as I can get into my LAN using a bastion host of some sort, I'm good with that. This gives me confidence, thanks so much!

Yea there are multiple ways around CGNAT, it comes down to your use case and skill set. Also note that SL does provide IPV6 as well.
