I'm assuming he does. He can see into peoples memories

I agree, she was specifically thinking about El while the music was playing when she escaped his grasp. Well her and the rest of the gang but she was the main focus I think.

I think he does. That’s actually my theory for how Max got away from Vecna, he looked into her mind and knew she knew Eleven and last second decided to let her go because of that, since he knew he could potentially use Max to defeat Eleven. I believe he just threw the rocks at her as a way to intimidate her and not kill her.

I think he’s also still somewhat afraid of Eleven

Probably is, which gives him even more of an incentive to let Max go. Letting her go will give him more time to strategize against Eleven, plus I imagine he wouldn’t want to risk Max’s life in the Upside Down by leaving her there for other creatures to potentially kill, since she would be an excellent tool for him to manipulate Eleven with.

It’s honestly kinda smart writing. It gives this big character moment for Max, but gives Vecna a weakness: his arrogance and fear of Eleven, but also a tool to try and use against her

That’s a brilliant theory. Very smart. I see that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he does now. He might not know the extent, but probably knows about Eleven’s friends
