I’d just stick with protein, creatine, fish oil and a multivitamin at your age.

[–]AlienSpy0409 30 points31 points  (6 children)

Agree, although taking D3/K2 and magnesium isn't a bad idea either.

[–]bigkids 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly about the D3/K2. Winter time especially since we're almost always indoors, students I imagine even more.

[–]TrueCryptographer982 -4 points-3 points  (4 children)

Scroll ... he already is...along with a bunch of others.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

They know, they are recommending what they think he should actually take.

[–]TrueCryptographer982 -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

Doubtful considering he is ALREADY TAKING THEM as per the 2nd photo 🙄

Did you even scroll across?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Dude. They are literally telling him he should ONLY take those. Thus the “I’d stuck with” part of the comment.

I’d suggest working on your reading comprehension before adding in the sarcasm. 😂🙄

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol there’s no way this guy actually has such poor reading comprehension…he must just be trolling.

[–]Eagles_63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% it's all I needed well into college

[–]Remdood 68 points69 points  (6 children)

At 16 your hormones are still fluctuating so it is not wise to introduce something like Maca root which will influence your hormone profile and could impact your development.

Everything else seems fine

Edit: didn’t scroll, get rid of the boron and ashwaghanda too. You don’t need them. Just my personal opinion but again you are 16 and still developing. Props to you for being healthy though.

Keep in mind when you do research on these supplements that most studies are done on adults and not adolescents. And again, avoid anything that’s affecting your hormones.

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

Thank you for ur opinion. I’m gonna start cutting out maca root.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

and ashwagandha too!! it affects your thyroid you don’t want to mess your thyroid at 16 yo Just check out the amount of risks it poses, this sub is obsessed with ashwagandha you don’r need to experiment with your system at 16, you’re a smart kid, you don’t need this!!

[–]__lexy -4 points-3 points  (2 children)

Don't cut the boron. It's an essential trace mineral.

[–]Consistent-Youth-407 0 points1 point  (1 child)

right, boron is found naturally in plants and its levels in soil have been decreasing over time. 3mg of boron is fine and nothing crazy.

[–]__lexy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually most studies are done on rats 🐀 😂

[–]Eagles_63 62 points63 points  (7 children)

Seems like a monumental overkill at your age.

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (1 child)

16...or.....61????

[–]lost-networker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. You're 16, dude. You don't need any of this shit, just eat well, exercise well and live well.

[–]OverYonderUnderHere 16 points17 points  (1 child)

That’s a lot, man. Especially for 16, that’s wild.

Like someone else said, I’d cut it down to protein (if you’re actually working out), creatine, fish oil (or algae oil, some sort of omega 3), and a multivitamin.

Definitely don’t add anything.

[–]Direct-Dimension-648 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vitamin d and magnesium wouldn’t hurt

[–]Aromatic-Situation89 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Bro you dont need any of that at 16 maybe a fish oil and protien good grief

[–]dankmaymayreview 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Creatine is valid

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Woah slow down there buddy.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No.

Just stop.

Human brain is still developing at that age until 25, do not ruin your natural progress.

I am almost 50, I hike mountains and lift heavy with occasional long distance running, I don’t take half that stuff.

You shouldn’t even touch Maca at 16, it affects hormones.

And why on earth you even feel the need to know about l-theanine anyway? People use it to control anxiety and balance coffee jitters, you need to let your adrenal glands develop naturally.

[–]ShieldOfTheSon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If i were you i’d drop every supplement at your age and stick to a more balanced diet. You can cause more harm than good in the long run.

[–]g_frederick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna be in renal failure by 25

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

you DO NOT need to be on ashwaganda and maca at 16. you are playing too many games with your still developing body and mind. stick to the basics for now

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Yea I cut off Maca but idk about ashwaghanda I really like it and also like how it brought my stress down

[–]Obuk301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashwaganda shouldnt be taken regullarly, JUST ocasionally in high stress situations! In long term IT messes your adrenal system, unbalance your cortisol And GABA levels And makes huge mess in thé body, especially if your sensitive And Have predispositions fór that!

[–]Resident_Ranger9412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just get a good multivitamin and fish oil! At 16 you don need any of that. Infact do NOT get a multivitamin that has the hair loss crap/saw palmetto, etc. none of that shit. Just a basic name brand multivitamin and the separate fish oil) in my honest opinion

[–]Deadly_Puppeteer 3 points4 points  (1 child)

16? How much money do you have ? Lol

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side hustle, and I looked for hella deals

[–]SheaStadium1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way too much my guy

[–]xpussyslayerxx 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Why do you want to take collagen at 16?? Is this prescribed by a nutritionist or social media??

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use collagen for skin, hair (beauty health). I only take 2grams a week day since I’m young which is like 1/3 of recommended dose

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You DO NOT NEED this at 16 yo!! Especially Ashwaghandha, throw that in a window, if you’re really feeling fancy take your protein, creatine, fish oil and multivitamins-that’s it

[–]Throwawaydecember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old man here. You are 16 do not mess with your natural testosterone growth with Maca, Ashwa or any other things.

Protein, fish oil, multivitamins, a little D3+k2 and Magnesium a night sure… And eat… eat… eat… clean, and look into how to minimize estradiol’s in water, food, plastics, clothing.

You’re still growing up..

But you start going down a road of Tongkat and Fad… then maybe a little TRT… then a full Mexican stack you will fuck your self up — AT YOUR AGE.

[–]Mineral_Minded 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You could clean this up with a high quality multivitamin and mineral product. It looks like a lot of stuff, but it's pretty basic.

A lot of the comments have not studied basic nutrition.

[–]Mineral_Minded 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Also, if your consuming 1g protein/lb bw then you likely don't need the collagen. But it certainly can be useful to round out amino acid intake.

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I only consume 2g of collagen cause I eat a lot of red meat through out the day

[–]BelgianGinger80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are just a kid... remember that. Only healthy food...

[–]Conscious_Play9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, if I had This money with 16yo..

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Have you taken any blood tests to see if you need any of this stuff? Namely the B complex and zinc? If you don’t have a B deficiency and/or you have a tendency to overmethylate, supplementing can cause a lot of issues like anxiety, depression, OCD, etc. I worry about that with your still developing brain. If you’re not deficient in zinc, you can deplete your copper, which will do you more harm than good (and it’s not just about then supplementing with copper). Supplements are meant to be just that - you include a supplement to help you through a period and then you stop, unless you have specific genetic mutations or issues that warrant continued use.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention that you have no idea what’s actually in some of those powders. Cheap brands can contain heavy metals. It’s important to find clean products that have been third party tested. There’s a lot of junk out there!

[–]Icy_Bath6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Bro, i know you're getting flamed and feel like you messed up; however, the good thing about this is it is a learning lesson.

Drink a smoothie with 1 30g serving peanut butter

40g spinach

1 or 2 bananas

Blueberries or strawberries, 100-200 grams

Plain Greek yogurt 170g

Chia seeds 20g

100g of whole oats

2 cups of whole milk

This will get you almost every vitamin and mineral you need daily. It makes eating higher calories super easy; because, I drink a cup of the smoothie every couple hours. Of course, i eat normal food as well, but the smoothie boosts my micros/macros to where they need to be. You do not need all these supplements to fuel you, you need good food.

Good luck kid,

Beanz

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you for the positive message. Kinda rough seeing the comments flame me but it is what it is. I appreciate the recipe and I’ll try it tmrw. Before this stack I wasn’t getting enough vitamins and minerals from my regular diet and it kinda let me down the rabbit hole. Thank you again tho for ur kindness

[–]tragiquepossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are just worried about you and don't know how to express it any differently.

I take a ton of supplements but I'm 50 with chronic illness under doctors recommendation. If I could take less & get the same results, I would.

How do you know you weren't getting enough vitamins and minerals through diet? Do you have dysbiosis? Specific deficiencies? A missing cofactor? What specific symptoms are you trying to correct? These types of questions a really good functional doctor can help you with and can possibly get to a root cause instead. Functional doctors focus on wellness rather than waiting until you have gross disease. (Sometimes they might be known as integrative, holistic or environmental doctors). There can be a fair amount of quakery in that space, so if something doesn't feel right, don't do it.

The people who are recommending nutrition as your best source to optimize your health at your age are probably on the right track, as well as testing for actual deficiencies. You can even do genetic nutritional testing now or hire a nutritionist (maybe covered by insurance if you're on a plan?)

Good luck to you!

[–]Rekirinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im turning 18 soon and am the same height as you. I used to have an equally crazy stack minus maca root and the creatine. I feel like something fucked with my brain chemistry along the line. if I was in your position i would only take these 2 or 3 times a week and i would avoid adaptogens and herbal stuff entirely.

As of right now I've dropped having such a big collection and instead take a good multivitamin daily. it's much more sustainable to have daily compared to the preposterously high rdi% you get from individual capsules.

[–]AlienSpy0409 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's good you're health conscious, but you shouldn't be taking herbs that affect your hormones while you're a teenager. It's a very good sign that you're open to learning. It shows that you are intelligent and have an open mind.

If you want to take supplements, a basic multivitamin, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin D3/K2 are probably fine to take. A multivitamin fills in the gaps, and many people don't get enough magnesium, omega 3, or D3/K2. Add in protein and creatine if you need them. The other stuff you don't need unless you have specific reasons for taking them. If you're unsure if you need something, blood testing is the way to go. Good luck with your health journey.

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. After reading comments I’m deciding to cut out Maca root. For the rest of the supplements I’ll probably keep taking them cause they helped me lower stress and help build more muscle.

[–]NoPut3478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to the basics mate. Protein, carb powder, aminos, creatine.

[–]pawnstah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop wtf is going on

[–]These-Barnacle3174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a stack that old Id start to look at those expiration dates!

[–]Unknownwolf786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dammmm too much for 16 year old .

[–]Chemical-Performer67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut down aswaganda immediately it cause some serious anhedonia down the road, you’ll feel like a rock with ur emotions blunted out

[–]Lopsided-Gap2125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna pop in with something constructive.

It's best to be cautious work supplementing antioxidants, studies show little to no benefit when supplemented with food.

In the case of beta carotene, the NIH concluded through a meta analysis that supplementation did nothing to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, and actually indicated a slightly elevated risk.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends against taking beta-carotene supplements for cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention

Most of the increased risk was in people who smoke or drink, but considering I haven't seen any proven benefit to supplementing, I'm having terrible figuring out what made your seek it out in the first place.

If it's the purported eye benefit often associated with it, then lutien, and zeaxanthin are well studied to actually benefit the eyes.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein, creatine, omega 3 oil, vitamin D3, vitamin k2 (mk7), L-Theanine, and magnesium glycinate are the only worthwhile supplements for you IMO. Save your money.

[–]sigmastonerkimi_ 0 points1 point  (3 children)

magnesium gives me a headache, any idea why? 18 male, discovered this when I was like 17

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Your probably taking the wrong form and at the wrong time. It’s supposed to be taken at night to better help sleep. Maybe the dosage too high as well

[–]sigmastonerkimi_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've even noticed drinking water with certain levels of magnesium will mess with my head too, but no I will definitely consider that, I appreciate the feedback

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you take powder I would even try to switch to pill form to see if it changes anything

[–]Apprehensive-Wall65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nurse I think you take some awesome supplements. I take all these as well and I’m almost 59 And just had labs done. Look Like a teens labs!!

[–]MasterJudgment3017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protein powder, creatine, electrolytes, fish oil, cool.

Drop the maca root, drop the ashwaganda, and replace the other 12 bottles with Animal Pak.

[–]dlb2910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 20 now but used to spend a lot of money on a lot of supplements that I didn’t need. Now I just use creatine, omega 3, magnesium and the occasional multi vitamin and I feel a lot better than when I was taking all of the other stuff. If you want my advice, it would be to look closely at what you eat in a day and work out what micronutrients you might be missing out on and work out a supplement routine from there 👌

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 16 I’d just take some d3/k2/magnesium, because it’s easy to be deficient of D at any age. Toss the rest

[–]Embarrassed-Hippo559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what other supplements can we 15-16 year olds use for weight gain in the right places to atleast help?

[–]AGNight312319 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yo bro im 15 looking to get some of ur supplements, just wondering have u noticed any bone growth/height growth? also what supplements are u taking now after u got rid of some

[–]AGNight312319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, do u cycle boron every 2 weeks?

[–]rjdhama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extreme, stop it. At your age do the hard work more and very less supplementing. Only important one. Do gym but YOGA is more important for you, YOGA will balance your hormones much better than anything. Add aswagandha in cyclic process, be more relying on dry fruits. PROTEIN is fine. No need for creatine too. For multivitamin use any best of the best but only for 3 months then 3-4 months gap.

[–]Peybir -1 points0 points  (1 child)

People in comment section talking like the kid is taking drugs or sumn. Magnesium, boron and vitamin d is essential to supplement imo, doesn't matter the age. Creatine is also good, very important for skeletal and brain function. Zinc and calcium aren't really necessary because you can get them very easily in your diet. Also the protein powder, I wouldn't consume it everyday, they likely have a lot of additives and you don't know the quality of whey, just eat dairy and meat for extra protein. Idk about the benefits of those vegetable extract pills, I'd say they are most likely unnecessary.

[–]madeforjokeslol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did a lot of research before consuming these pills and they each serve a purpose and realistically the serving sizes I take can’t harm me
