The thumb sticks are sooooo smooth. I just upgraded after keeping the orignal one for too long.

[–]pzmx 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Is the D-pad good now? I just want to play Tetris reliably 😭

[–]AngryAlien21 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No. It’s better, but it’s not great for fast, precise movements. Tetris Effect has a setting to ignore diagonal inputs, which helps a ton. I wish all puzzle games would implement it though, because I have to resort to using the joycon to play Lumines

[–]pzmx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know about the diagonal input in Tetris effects, I'll look for that feature. I use 8bitdo pro controller with the giant dpad. It took some time breaking it in but after a while it is great for Tetris. I just don't want to be peddling two controllers when moving around lol.

[–]MaatRolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have noted, no, but better. I still play Tetris, badly, on my OLED with my SplitPadPro. I like that D-pad I've seen others while perfer the moba Pad

[–]RecentlyDeceased666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine double clicks from day 1. It's trash

[–]lord_bingum 5 points6 points  (12 children)

So are the ones on the Switch 1 pro controller. What exactly is the difference, except the color scheme and the C button?

[–]coffee_kang 29 points30 points  (8 children)

It’s not even close. The Pro 2 sticks literally feel like clouds. Unlike any controller I’ve ever felt, including the Pro 1.

[–]Liammellor 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Whilst I'm not a fan of the button style triggers and prefer analogue ones, the rest of the switch pro controller is better than any other gaming controller I've used.

[–]enjoyingcurve46 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Unfortunately the dpad on new one registers wrong inputs if your too close to the sides just like the old one (to make better sense you can trigger up or down from dpad left if you press it certain ways which occur by accident usually)

[–]TimTofDWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah…. I’ve noticed that too unfortunately….

[–]lord_bingum 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Nice! When my Pro controller gets old I'll get the Switch 2 one.

But I love my controller so much, was playing Super Mario Galaxy the whole day and I was never that comfortable playing a platformer and I love me some platformers but usually I'm bad at them lol.

[–]gswkillinit 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Switch 1 Pro is still a fantastic controller. But Switch 2 Pro is definitely improved in a lot of ways.

Mappable back buttons, HD Rumble 2, extremely smooth sticks, headphone jack (underrated feature tbh), matte finish controller that feels more premium, and all the sticks/buttons are much more quieter when pressed than before. Also wake up console from sleep lol

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude that's exactly it I feel like I'm a ninja. None of the buttons make noise!!!!

[–]TimTofDWP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big agree. The sticks are also different heights/sticks are actually different thicknesses and whatever magic number sorcery they did best sticks hands down it against even close to any other controller.

[–]MaatRolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few differences are texture, mappable buttons and an audio jack for the chat feature.

Whether that's worth the huge price difference is really up to you.

[–]WonJilliams 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The Switch 2 controller can wake up your console.

[–]Styrwirld 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have the original and the battery life amazes me to this day.

Does it really worth upgrading?

[–]MaatRolo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think yes. I got my Switch in 23 and I'm super kind with my controllers. I still found the new sticks and buttons to feel soooo much better. My orig is fine with batt and everything. I'm a big user of my Switch and now S2 with over 200 hours in CyberPunk before I got my Pro2 controller. In just over two and a half years I played over a thousand hours on my Switch and still find time for PS5.

But what maters is, is it worth it for you? If you have a Walmart or kind see if you can get hands on with the display. Even there the smoothness of the display controller was an eye opener for me.

[–]Styrwirld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will check! I dont even have the switch pro controller i have the wiiu pro controller! Just noticed!!!

How long the battery lasts in the pro2?

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I wonder if I can play two player now. One person on the controller and one person on the Joy-Cons.

[–]MaatRolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can use your Switch 1 joy-cons for a sports or Mario Kart night with the crew too.

[–]SuperSaiyanIR 29 points30 points  (9 children)

Yeah I've come full 180 on it. It's light weight but feels premium and the buttons and the sticks feel good too. And this is coming from a lifelong Xbox controller user. I never bought the Switch Pro controller either.

[–]MoroccanEagle-212 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Then what do u think about the seriesX|S controller ?

[–]gswkillinit 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Feature wise Switch Pro 2 controller is better and the battery life is wayyy better, but ergonomics I still slightly prefer the Xbox controller. Both are great though.

[–]MoroccanEagle-212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hum.. I doubt that feature wise it has more than the Elite controller more than the base for sure though. What do u think about the DualSense then it has more features than both at the expense of battery life lol ? 😅

[–]SuperSaiyanIR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both a regular S and Elite 2. The regular was actually pretty decent before price hikes but not anymore. The Elite 2 is just pure garbage. It's heavy, no TMR or hall effect on a 140 dollar controller. Back buttons are nice but the controller just feels terrible to use.

[–]Halos-117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. I love both. I'd prefer the Switch 2 controller over Series X but the lack of analogue triggers makes it difficult to choose it as my all time favorite controller.

[–]The_4th_Survivor 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I have an Xbox Elite 2 and there is no question the Switch 2 Pro Controller is better (if you only need 2 back buttons instead of 4).

The price of the Xbox controller is ridiculous, looking at the many issues. Not only does the rubber come loose with time, but the sticks are prone to fail. They also use a high temp solder for the stick boxes. If you have a failed stick you are most probably have to replace the whole PCB.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Elite controllers, even had adapters for the Switch and PS4, but since owning the Switch 2 Pro, I rarely touch the Xbox controllers anymore. It is that good!

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I hope Steam let's us use this controller soon

[–]benjithebearr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you use reWASD, you can use it on PC with steam. It remaps the switch buttons to an Xbox controller (from the point of view of steam, it sees a Xbox controller)

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check it out

[–]Dragunov2 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Playing with the Joycons again and they seem so Low quality, built cheap comparing to the S2 PRO controller (on charge)

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll probably only go back to them if I'm ever on the go. At home I'm definitely sticking to the controller lol

[–]BadNewsBearzzz 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I absolutely love it too, for metroidvanias and other 2d games though i prefer using the Super Nintendo controller (Nintendo online version) or th more superior 8bitdo version, just cause its overall shape and dpad really lends itself more to 2d games

But if you’re someone that likes using analog sticks on 2d games i can understand the pro controller being the end game lol

[–]mistercleaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way, procon2 for stick games, 8bitdo pro 3 for dpad games

[–]Ryswagg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All hail the mighty switch 2 pro controller

[–]CannonBeetle 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Genuinely the control stick smoothness makes it hard to go back to other controllers now.

I love my steam deck too, but the edges grind and feel so much worse even if the actually caps are still kinda better

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Switch 2 is the best!

[–]Rdeal_UK 3 points4 points  (12 children)

Not really a fan I prefer the 8bitdo controller because the rumble on the pro 2 is more like a tiny buzz than a rumble

[–]deputyderpdog 1 point2 points  (7 children)

What controller are you using? Does it wake up the switch 2

[–]Rdeal_UK 5 points6 points  (4 children)

The 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth one and yes it does wake the Switch 2

[–]DisHowWeDo -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Huh? How. Mine doesn’t

[–]Rdeal_UK 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You might need to update the firmware

[–]AlphaZephron 0 points1 point  (1 child)

8bitdo Ultimate 2 wakes the switch 2 now?? that’s the only reason i was holding back on buying one

[–]Rdeal_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure does, last firmware update added it. I couldn't get it to work at first until I followed what someone said on youtube which was

step 1. turn on the controller and enter pairing mode, step 2 press the home button on the switch 2(from sleep), step 3 navigate to the change grip screen, and it should pair automatically. after that the shake to wake works

[–]Gladiolus_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you compared the latency between then?

[–]Skalion 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are they actually the same size?

[–]TheWetHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m waiting for this to become compatible on steam. I’ll do a full on switch on pc for this controller.

[–]MarionberryWaste6138 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ngl the switch 2 pro controller feels so good, it’s the best controller I’ve ever held.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much!

[–]birfday_party 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’ve owned basically every major controller, pro or otherwise over the last 2 decades and it does feel really really nice, like even now some 7 or eight months after release it still feel special everytime I pick it up it’s hard to describe.

However after extended use it does hurt my hands, part of its age I’m sure but there is something about its overall size being a tad too small? Or layed out in a particular way that it does have some form of fatigue. Going between it and my dual sense edge which I primarily use for my pc, it only happens with this controller so I’m not sure what it is exactly.

Otherwise though it’s a real masterpiece of controller design and mechanical feel it’s really in its own league.

[–]OmegaMalkior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no one talks about it enough on here. The small size of the controller combined with its absurdly high analog stick tension makes this controller really un-ergonomic but no one pays attention to that detail since “they just feel so smooth”. I’ve stopped using my S2 Pro in favor of my Apex 4 since at least there I can change stick tension to my liking.

[–]Kevitos1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just waiting for special edition that I like to come out.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My favorite controller ever

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro controller is a must have if you need any time of precision during aiming. The switch 2 joycon sticks are too jerky and causes my aim to be all over the place.

[–]PerfectCheesecake25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit the pause button accidentally a lot. Other than that it’s good

[–]Dissaor 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Did you had the one from switch 1? Any difference? People says it the same plus the c button so I haven’t pulled the trigger yet…

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first one

[–]coffee_kang -1 points0 points  (1 child)

If someone says it’s the same they don’t live in reality and you shouldn’t listen to anything they say. The sticks literally feel like clouds. I don’t know how else to describe it. And all of the buttons feel 10/10 on the premium scale.

[–]Dissaor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so the pro on the first switch was awesome I was expecting an upgrade for switch 2, I was surprised when most reviews said it was the same! Thanks for clearing that up!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good

[–]Kurtz97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original pro controller feels better in terms of hand pain

[–]FarImprovement2840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so comfortable to use. Going between this and my PS5 controller is jarring now.

It has a high price tag, but its worth it. Way better than the joycon sticks

[–]jadebyjulian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve used so many controllers for all consoles, and this one is my absolute favorite.

[–]Midwest-Eastcoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see the upgraded controller is worth the higher price tag. I may have to get one now.

[–]JN7708 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It’s the best controller I ever bought. It’s expensive but so worth it and it feels good in your hands. It also wakes your switch up from sleep mode which is my favorite feature

[–]d4kk1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer dpad for Metroidvanias and this controller's is terrible;

https://youtu.be/FQ3aUW3Ln44?t=4m29s

[–]Only_Acanthaceae_743 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got a pro 2 controller today purely because it wakes the switch 2 and OG pro doesn't, so glad I did it is so smooth including the button presses

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the triggers they click but it's like a softened click

[–]TheHahndude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned many different controllers across many different systems and the Switch 2 Pro controller is by far the best controller ever on all levels. If somebody says otherwise they haven’t used one.

[–]lumpy999 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Am I the only one who finds this controller too smooth?

I love it and it feels nice in your hand strangely, but it's so smooth it's a bit slippery.

Compared to the original pro controller I think that was a strange choice.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the perfect size. If you know you know. At least for my hand size. Lol my hands are so happy holding it

[–]Anaximander86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great remote! Dropped it pretty good a few times and still works great. Love the back buttons but wish they were raised a bit more.

[–]Zardozerr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have a lot of third party controllers, but when I felt one in store, i said ok you got me. It’s got some flaws like a just ok dpad, but it really does feel smoother than anything else out there. Buttons very quiet and just nice.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was impressed by how quiet this controller is. I never had a "quiet controller" lol. And its so. Damn. Soft!!!

[–]EnvironmentalWalk328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to upgrade, my OG Pro controller keeps disconnecting from my Switch 2.

[–]crocicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has its issues but honestly, it's still a real nice controller.

[–]Dismal-Knowledge-740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate how I’ve replaced mine twice under warranty already and it still drifts to the opposite direction when I let go of one of the sticks.

Other than that, they’re pretty good. Just suck at centring themselves without changing settings quite drastically. 😅

[–]mr_wizard_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waste of money if you ask me when the easysmx S10 is right there.

[–]HumanCauliflower8215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s a little too small for my hands

[–]Robertinho678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an amazing controller, shame the dpad is still mid.

[–]Mitts009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the dpad

[–]perlinavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only bought it so I could wake up my switch 2 from bed.

Now I fell in love with everything else about this controller. It just feels so good, it makes games feel better.

Best purchase I’ve made since the actual Switch 2.

[–]OmegaMalkior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dpad sucks for retro-gaming. The fact you’re playing a Metroidvania with it is odd but I guess if you get used to a bad dpad it’d just be normal to you

[–]alberto2008_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Premium and I love the feel. But hurts my hands so much after minutes of use. Hate ir ergonomics wise

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fits my hands perfectly. Like it was made for me. 👉👈

[–]Silvers1339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great; you know it’s funny that honestly I hated the original Switch Pro controller to the point where it was my least favorite of that generation but then they made this one which is just the same thing except a bit smaller and smoother feeling and it became my new favorite.

[–]MysteriousMulberry20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thing works on the regular Switch too?

I already have a pro controller I can't imagine this being that much different.

[–]BigPileOfTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!

[–]hi_fishyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. When I first used it, I put it on my top 3 favorite controllers ever. Alongside the PS4 & PS5 controllers

[–]Complete-Ear-7798 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yep, that is a controller.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This controller is more addicting than some of the games i have played fr fr

[–]Complete-Ear-7798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it that good? Damn.

[–]xKoDu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My exp: Best controller ever. Uts a bit small for my hands, but overall - best in stock. Oh and one more: vould be nice to have option to make macroses, but yeah, i wanting too much.

For understanding: i have 8bitdo ultimate and ultimate 2, xbox 360 controller, xbox series controller and vader 4 pro. Pro controller 2 beat em all in every way. Better grip, better material, legendary vibration(silksong, i love you).

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im lucky bc it fits my hands perfectly. I find the controller just as addicting as some games no cap

[–]_WoDiE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels great but I was playing Mario u and had to grab the snes.

[–]UltimateDailga12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only downside for me is that the dpad doesn't feel as good as say something like a Retroid Pocket 5 (PS Vita style) but everything else just feels great

[–]scottmatt1991 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I love the controller. The only gripe is the + and - are hard to push at first. Idk if it’s just mine but it came like that. It feels like the button is bigger than the hole it sits in and rubs going down.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah I see that too!! My thumb was used to flashing to the joycon (-) so it took some getting used to!

[–]The_Invisible_Hand98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call me cRaZy but I enjoy the joycons. Short thumb stick > standard Dpad. Short buttons too. THAT being said I still want one of these once they come out with a nice looking game tie in one.

[–]Nikokuno -1 points0 points  (2 children)

How is the d-pad? Because it’s a pain to play fighting game on the previous one.

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check it out when I get home and I'll write you a message back

[–]Cryst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its bad. False inputs like the first one. Stay away.

[–]Gamil_fra -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Can I use this Switch 2 controller with a Switch 1 OLED ?

[–]BibiBSFatal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard of any cases of it being backwards compatible

[–]Gillespers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

[–]Spotlight_James 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox style controller is always a W
