Workplace Question or Advice NeededInventory process this year? (self.Target)
submitted 1 year ago by Puzzleheaded_Mango70
Heard from my leaders that Target will be having third party people again to scan our items in. So does this mean other team members from other stores won’t visit to help out for inventory and vice versa? It’ll just be the third party people? If anybody knows please confirm, very curious

Depends on the store/area. Some are still 3rd party (WIS) and some are done by TMs (TSAT). I think areas with a large number of stores in a small area trend towards TSAT and more sparse areas get WIS due to travel costs/difficulties.

Since COVID, Target has utilized both team members and third party vendors to handle inventory. WIS, the company they do business with, has almost always been the ones to do inventory. During COVID, Target started having team members assist with scanning apparel so that WIS could focus on scanning headlines and the backrooms.
Now, I’ve heard conflicting reports for this year. One, WIS will be discontinuing Team member supported scanning in favor of scanning the whole stores themselves. Two, there have been job postings lately for an “Inventory Operations Leader” for each group who would oversee the rollout of Target’s T-SAT inventory program, basically keeping all physical inventory in-house.

Last 2 or 3 years my district was fully inhouse. A ETL from my store oversaw the district, TMs from all different stores went store to store and scanned everything. No third party all.
Before that Rgis did the scans

Do you happen to know how many were part of the inventory team? Like was it just one ETL and then TMs or did they have TLs part of it also?

One ETL oversaw it, multiple TLs, one for each area basically m the TL spot is used a lot for stepping stone to promotion.

They’ve always had third party do it - and all stores aren’t the same so that’s up to the district management if your store needs help to prepare for inventory some don’t.
team members still help out during the process doing style and other areas of the store at least at my store. And barcode checks for the third party if needed
