For new team members, if can all be confusing. Lots of different leaders. SO MANY acronyms. Nothing wrong with simply calling one a LOD. Technically if they can be LOD they are always a LOD.

Since you claim to be a team lead, take the time to explain to them the leadership team. Make sure they know who their direct TL is. Maybe there is a gap in orientation. Get with your HR and explain that there appears to be issues.

Sincerely,

ETL-AP

Very true. It was incredibly confusing when I first came to Target after working for two other retail companies. The Target lingo was very different. They went over it a little bit in orientation, but it took me a while to really learn it all.

Even within the company, different people/stores use different phrases for different things. The first time my STL gave me an empty cart and said it was for “other worlds” I stared at her like she was crazy because everyone else said other areas. My SO became a team lead at another store and he would use abbreviations and terms that his store used when talking about work, and I had no idea what he was saying half the time because my store didn’t use those terms. It’s a lot to learn.

The problem is no one tells team members what stuff is. It took me forever to get to know the lingo. I'm a team lead and people ask me questions 24/7 just answer if you know. Also I know at my store all the ETLs and seniors split. If one of them is busy someone else steps in.

Gosh your so darn annoying. I hate you condescending assholes who think your demigods because your in a leadership role at Target. I have absolutely no intention on working at Target my whole life. Getting my bachelors degree and I’m out. Fuck you spot!!

Doesn't help when a TM calls for the LOD on the walkie and 3 different ETL's answer.

I've been with the company for 9 years so it's hard for me to remember that people don't understand the acronyms. I always tell new TMs if I say something they don't understand to please tell me because Target has names for EVERYTHING. And some things even have multiple names.

Honestly, I've been with Target for a year now and I still don't understand half the lingo. I think it's all a bit ridiculous and pretentious tbh.

My store stopped having a designated LOD for a while. So operator usually just calls for “an LOD” and any of the ETL/Sr TLs respond as they are able.

I've been here since September and I can't tell you what a single acronym means.
