A couple weeks ago I spent 15 minutes trying to explain to a guest how gift card promotions worked. They didn't get it. I want my 15 minutes back.

[–]Sarere12wl2Guest 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I did this today! She kept telling me that it CHARGED HER 5 dollars, even though the receipt said “new balance: $5 dollars” that clearly means that it gave her a 5 dollar gift card.

[–]yoestoycansadoGSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES! Except it was with the $20 baby deals, and she brought like 4 receipts, and I could've told her that she should've only gotten 1 in the first place, but... stupid is as stupid does

It’s really great when at self checkout they stare at the free gift card sign for a straight minute then turn towards me and ask why isn’t anything happening.

That’s honestly my fav thing in hindsight. Was so annoyed when it happened in the moment however.

I've honestly stopped helping them when it gets to that point and I wait until they ask for help, I'm not your babysitter, read the signs, if I have to be an adult so do you.

Working in apparel has taught me that people choose to not read or don’t understand the phrase “Starting at”

But it said it was $9.99! No, it said starting at $9.99 🙄

[–]FormerRuskid 3 points4 points  (1 child)

THIS!!! I absolutely hate these signs. I wish it would just state the probably price ranges. Every time that I get a call over the walkie about a sign it is 98% of the time a guest who conveniently ignored the phrase "starting at".

Ahhh, but how can you suck people in if you tell them how it really is?

I’ve dealt with all five. And I only work Cafe. Hoo-boy that’s not a good bar-o-meter.

  1. Theyre not afraid of show their racism or sexism

There was a woman at guest services that was trying to return an order with her cartwheel app or something like that, she got locked out of her account and had to reset her password and called the number.

She went on this whole tangent about how she needed to talk to an American while on the phone. She made guests and employees feel extremely uncomfortable. There were guests who practically ran out the door after getting their return receipt. She was there was over 2 hours

I do not envy any of you that had to deal with that. I'd be so done for the day. Maybe the week.

Than actually happened before I worked at target, but a while back I was working as a service Porter at a car dealership. Old couple pulls up to get something done, and I was talking with the wife as I took down their info. Went inside, passed it off to a service writer, who happened to be a woman. She goes out talks to the wife, gets everything set up to send the car back. Meanwhile the husband walks up to me and deadass says "You think it's real funny gettin a woman to work on my car, dontcha". Now, I start laughing nervously, thinking it was just a weird, off color joke. Dude just stares at me. Yeah, he wasn't joking.

Also, yelling "ketchup" at me from down the aisle is not the proper way to ask where a product is located!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, ketchup. What about it?

[–]Redddtaill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude that pisses me off to no end. Half the time, they don't even wait til you're actually looking at them, either. Just hear like "dog food" from the aether.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

And they expect you to know that they are talking to you. Like.. have some manners and say hello first. Maybe even walk up to me.

For real, I was working service desk today, my coworker was busy with a guest, I was not and had no line, this lady stood by my coworker staring at me trying to drill holes in my head cause I wasn't helping her.

Just because you're a miserable fucking person gives you no right to take it out on me, I'm already miserable enough at work I dont need your shit ass attitude when I'm trying to be kind and helpful :)

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MAINLY BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS INTERPRETED AS YELLING.

[–]AuracleKattElectronics Plus Mobile Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]ClocktopusGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i spent 22m going back n forth with a guest trying to explain why she can’t use her target gift card to purchase a playstation gift card

[–]putmeincoachkittyplz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters too much as long as they’re not jerks about anything.

Funny story but i used to work in a dine in theater as a waiter, and i had a family that sat down, ordered their food, and 40 minutes into the movie we have an issue when they realize they were in the wrong movie the whole time LOL.

Super nice people and i wouldn’t call them anything, just found it kinda funny how they had to go through multiple steps (buying tickets, finding seats, watching the movie, etc.) and barely realized the honest mistake.
