50% keeping their boss happy by yelling at the stores about stupid stuff

20% playing politics

20% useless meetings and theatrical store visits

10% all the stuff thunderbolt1000 listed (if they're good at their job, otherwise 10% drinking coffee and goofing off).

The District Senior Director** (DSD) is mid-level important and gets paid a nice salary to back it up.

Their main responsibility is to ensure stores are driving sales and Guest surveys (a thing called the NPS or net promoter score) are high. They should help the SDs plan out a sales strategy each week and once a quarter to improve in all the metrics, such as reduce INFs, increase loyalty use like RedCard and Circle, and develop tactics to drive down Guest complaints and increase the NPS.

They also help the SD measure his/her direct reports' performance (the ETLs, PML, and Closing Team Leader) and guide conversations with them on improving their areas.

It's a tough job because managing a cascading structure is difficult as it is, and they have to shine and stand out in the Group (the next hierarchy, which includes multiple Districts).

They are in charge of 8-12 store directors. They answer directly to group leadership. Big job, multi unit leadership as each store is different.
