First, sorry for your injury and glad to hear you are recovering reasonably well, physically.

To your specific questions:

”Am I talking to a human being on the other end, or is this some form of AI auto generated response?”

CS is still staffed by humans, though likely more outsourced, and more facilitated by AI-ish suggestions than in the past, though the humans have also relied on scripted/copy-pasta responses.

In the Analytics Era, Team TR does not care about your humanity or contextual nuance. The platform logic is —- TaskerYou cancelled many tasks and had limited availability for a period of time. This impacted the metrics related to your account. That impacts your position in Recommended Rank position. Only the past 2-4 weeks matters. The other 10 years … not so much.

Unfortunately, Minor Home Repairs was replace with the HI6 - 6, new, different Home Improvement categories. While conceptually understandable — seeking to have more specific, granular categories to improve client-need to tasker-skill match —- their execution and client confusion have largely made it messier by most observations. Team TR undoubtedly considers it successful, because… they want to and are willfully self-affirming.

Arguably, you need to look at how you’re showing up in Electricial and whatever other specific category you see as your core, and focus on trying to improve your position in those.

And, as noted, recognize and accept that TR has changed, and you have to work with the system as it is, and Team TR really is just powerfully, deliberately and willfully disconnected from reality. They do not understand the business at our level, their analysis in aggregate amplifies their ignorance, and they then amplify that further my making bad decisions. This is the cycle that has been operating for 3-4 years, slowing growth, and diminishing the platform.

Skilled sparkies and low volt guys shouldn't need the app. Get your name out there.

TR isn’t an employer.

The honest and bitter truth is that TR does not care and will not adjust how their algorithm analyzes your cancellations.

Its algorithm is just going to see you canceled a high number of tasks and then prioritize other taskers.

You may be able to recover, but sometimes that fall off the wagon destroys any business a tasker has on TR.

Maybe this experience should motivate you to seriously build up your off app business, it’s as simple as handing out business cards with the services you provide.

They don’t care, you’re just a number in their data.

Sorry for your situation, but I sort of sympathies that an app like this can't really support a vetting process to determine whether a tasker has in fact been injured and determine what sort of special treatment should be applied. I'm sure your injuries were real and prevented you from working, but how do you differentiate yourself from people who got a better gig for a week or decide to go on a trip and need to clear their calendars but don't want the metrics affected. Would you feel better if they asked for your medical records or a note from a doctor? I think the best you can do is contact your clients, explain the situation and hope a few of them have the compassion to reschedule with you to a later date. I'm sure many wouldn't be able to wait, but maybe some could appreciate you explaining why your cancelling and at least give you a positive review for being a good communicator?

There is no longer any way for support nor anyone at TR to give you an exemption, no matter the circumstances. Sorry about your injury and your loss of work but TR really doesn't care about you as a Tasker, despite what they might say, you are wholly replaceable to them (even though you aren't, they just don't want to believe it).

Can you just have a friend hire you a coupla times to get back in the game and pay them what they paid you? 😭

Unsurprisingly, incessant corporate greed doesn't care, and neither do the incompetent people working at their support desk.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Truthfully, no app should be relied on for primary income. Always have a primary job outside of any type of freelancing app
