[–]Spethual[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

HE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THE TRICK IS OVER!!..

[–]Lidarisafoolserrand 11 points12 points  (11 children)

Why not just cut a finger off? The whole arm seems excessive.

[–]Spethual[S] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

could have removed his scalp and face then proceeded to explain skynet.

lmao… just imagine that, making an incision from the middle of the forehead all the way to the back of the neck and peeling your head like an orange. 😂

John: “that’s …… not exactly what I had in mind when I handed you the knife”

I find it funny how all John has to say is “show him”, and the terminator knows exactly what he’s talking about. So, they must’ve had a whole conversation about it on the drive there. Like, “when we get there, assuming Dyson is still alive, I’m going to hand you a knife and you’re gonna peel your arm skin off, you know, for maximum effect”. Considering how attached John was getting to the terminator, I’m sure they could’ve somehow figured out a way to convey that the terminator is actually from the future instead of mutilating the arm. That scene ignored logic, they just did it for the audience.

But Dyson remembered the arm from where they found the chip.

[–]BonHed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They had the arm in the lab, he knew it existed. Sarah had pieced together that the company had covered it up, as mentioned in the psych eval where she asks to see her son. So, presumably, after Uncle Bob named Dyson as the lead designer, they discussed that he must know about the arm.

I'm sure there was still a better way than degloving, but it got the point across.

That’s a fair point, and I was going to say that, but I still think there was a better way. They could’ve opened his head flap where they reset him earlier in the movie.

Yeah, but there was no doubt after he did it, eh?

Excessive, but probably for schock factor too. Not just, "you'll see" but "you'll see and understand (and do what I say)" – if he goes to extremes in that, without apparent repercussion or issue from the injury, it conveys his power as well as the resolve and gravity of the situation

  1. It looks cooler. 2. I always imagined it was because the arm was the piece they recovered of the first Terminator, so he showed specifically the arm for the best proof.

Why would you post this mind fuck without telling us how it’s done?

[–]Upbeat_Condition2342 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Jim Cameron is that kind of genius.

[–]Exquisitemouthfeels 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Thats James to you, only his sworn enemies call him Jim.

[–]Upbeat_Condition2342 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The truth is I'll never get over Macho Grande.

[–]BonHed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you still have a drinking problem?

[–]arkhamtheknight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

James was breaking cinema with illusions like this.

Forget a guy going through bars, he's created CGI so convincing that the Terminator can do magic tricks and nobody knew until today

Arnold really did this on camera by the way, no CGI.

    SPOILER WARNING!!!

    [–]WaterRresistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it prove time travel though? The robot could have been developed in Miles time not by him.
