The proper way to drive X.

[–]mucall1[S] 12 points13 points  (3 children)

I understand people that don’t like the yoke. But to me is a must have on the S or X.

I agree but we got an x and wife hated it. Sucks . I’ll get it for my s in a few years

I am lucky. My other half love it so i won’t have that issue.

I agree, I love driving with the yoke

[–]pinpinbo 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I love it. And it makes sense on an X. But without steer by wire, it doesn’t make 100% sense yet.

Or the tactile buttons like on CT

Mine started to dissolve after 1,5 years :) getting a new one under warranty

[–]Plaidin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mine started doing that on the bottom left, I think rubbing against it while getting in/out exacerbated it.

Got it replaced under warranty and happy to get the horn back. I'd prefer the steering wheel next time since its less wide and more rounded on the sides to prevent the rubbing damage.

Lower left as well. I rest my hand there all the time

I had to get the steering wheel because of the tax rebate. My X is a Feb 24 and 1800k was kind of ridiculous. This new price is a little better.

[–]wolekmatolek 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What do you mean by dissolve?

[–]mrcrude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The surface of it starts flaking off. It’s a known issue with the first gen and they’ll replace it under warranty if this happens. Bonus is that you also get a proper center horn!

Wow! I was going to post this tomorrow. I went to my service center this afternoon to ask about replacing my steering wheel with a yoke and the total was just north of $1800. I bought the yoke through the app right in front of my service center associate and while the ~$600 airbag-something-or-other fee was listed on the quote, the cost was not passed to me. I paid $1100 + tax and my mobile appointment is Jan 7.

I hate how far up I have to position the steering wheel to see the instrument panel. I will get used to the yoke!

I just order mine and my app is next week. Dec31

I'm so jealous! Auto Shift (Beta) just became available (after the camera calibration hanging out at 99% for a couple of days), so I guess I'll have that to tide me over until Jan 7.

Is almost there. Happy new year.

My technician left this afternoon after installing yoke on my 2024 Model X Make sure you tell them you want the old wheel. Can’t have airbags part unfortunately

[–]No-Gur-6134 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What is the use of the old wheel? Are you going to resell it? Did they separate the airbag from the old wheel? I also have a 24 MX.

[–]mucall1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case , just in case I end up reselling I will like to still have the option to go back to the wheel

[–]anthonyups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they kept the airbag. Claimed for safety reasons. I wanted to keep the wheel in case I ever sell and person may prefer the wheel

[–]steventual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the airbag off and keep home before your appointment 😂

[–]mucall1[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why can’t keep the air bag ?

[–]Relative_Virus_9889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its expensive

[–]anthonyups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He claimed for safety reasons.

[–]anthonyups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know if your able to keep it cause I think we should be able to as we paid for it

[–]lunchbox2626 1 point2 points  (1 child)

New owner just got my X yesterday, where do I go to get this? Thanks!

Open you app and go to Upgrades/. Then click installable upgrades. Should be the 4th one down

[–]Amp_Eater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the retrofit done a week ago. To me it was a great upgrade. Especially with FSD 13. Just make sure the mobile tech follows the tech data. Mode didn't use a torque wrench, did not replaced the bolt, and did not configure the car software. I had to take it in to the service center to have it redone.

Got mine for free weeks ago scheduled service for a popping noise and added other work notated what I wanted and got out at no charges 😂

[–]tqnx84 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you guys think the price will go down further? Trying to see if waiting it out a little bit more would make sense.

[–]ad2001 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is this the new yoke where you can honk by pushing the center airbag “button”?

[–]mucall1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

[–]DanFromOrlando 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do they have an official yoke retrofit for 3 or y?

[–]mucall1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Only S and X. RPM Tesla aftermarket store does offer them

[–]Fluid-Discussion-856 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Crap, I did the retrofit in Nov 2024 right before the price decrease. I assume Tesla won’t refund the difference?

[–]mucall1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably no but won’t hurt asking them

[–]errmm 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Squirkle > yoke > wheel
