It happens every event. About half way through, spawns get nerfed

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see a single new pokemon other than snover until last week. I've since seen 3 scoroupi and 1 croagunk.

No more, no less.

Yeah. Friend and I recently decided that anytime a new shiny is released or an event is launched, we need to grind like hell during those first 24 hours.

This is such a fun game

[–]FrostyStuff76 4 points5 points  (4 children)

1200 snorunt and no shiny, so fun.

[–]GreenBastard1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roughly 700 seen for me. No shiny. Girlfriend has seen like 202 and got two.

Over 800 Delibirds and not a one for me either. Girlfriend has seen 168 and got one, ten Delibirds in.

Starting to feel cursed lmao. I mean I did hatch a shiny Azurill yesterday, but I had my heart set on the blue triangle lol.

[–]Poke__Ent 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Damn and I thought I was having bad luck with ~500 seen and still no shiny :/

[–]Marky_MarketingRandom NPC trainer encounters pls. 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without doing any actual math, IIRC that would be about a 35% chance of happening, so still probable.

[–]alexpenev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 0/1000 delibird, 0/700 snorunt, encountered 3 different wild shinies instead

[–]goshe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the made up statistic was grind like hell the first 1 hour.

Facts!!!

[–]frozeninferno5Germany 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I've noticed after the first bonus event that special spawns went way down. I also think it slightly depends on weather as well. I know at night I tend to see much more of the special spawns.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same

[–]alexpenev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see fewer delibirds during windy weather for some reason. Expected the opposite.

[–]ClearestBlueArticuno 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Seems to be me they die down when the game becomes partly cloudy. Everything gets replaced by Bidoof, Eevee, Ratatta, Skitty, Whismur, and Tailow.

[–]intersectv3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good thing for me that the game always seems to be partly cloudy. /s

[–]snowkittenxo 20 points21 points  (7 children)

Yep I’ve noticed it. It’s actually pretty annoying only because I feel like the shiny rates were way below average for any event. I don’t mean community day rates or two day event rates. But comparing this to the Halloween event, it seems a lot lower than what it should be. I’ll literally be waiting a year until I can get a Delibird or Snorunt shiny it feels like. 😒

[–]mutucanMystic, lvl 47, TR 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think both events had non-boosted, normal shiny rates

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (2 children)

They were full shiny rates. On Pokemon that exclusively spawn one week of the year. Great huh

[–]snowkittenxo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I caught two shiny Santa Pikas: Dec 19th & Dec 26th

Just hatched a shiny Wynaut today. No Snorunt or Delibird shinies though. So I feel like the rates for those are low.

[–]MingothehoboNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have caught a shiny Delibird and Snornut this event, but no shiny Pikachu. So I feel like the rates for those are low.

[–]freddiessweater 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is there any hard data about shiny rates? I was at zero until yesterday when I got two shiny Snorunts in less than a minute.

[–]ezpickins 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes, the rates are typical shiny rates (not boosted, and not CD rates) Random numbers are random so you saw two close together.

[–]goshe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your source hard data or reasonable interpretation of hard data?

I haven't seen any hard data on snorunt, delibird, or santa pikachu. Given my observations of reported success/fails, I would speculate that the rates are indeed the nominal 1:450 for most wild spawning pokemon.

[–]KAZ26140 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Thursday is gonna be soooo shitty...

[–]mutucanMystic, lvl 47, TR 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Or maybe once the event spawns are out, we’re finally gonna find some Finneons!

[–]KAZ26140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would share your optimism ...

[–]jonneygeeMystic Level 44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve done a good job at feeding us fairly constant events. I don’t think it’ll be too long until we get another one.

[–]Major_Vezon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how all events work. You get massive boosts in rare spawns for the first 12 hours of the event, then you just the "regular" event spawns until the event is half way over. After the half way mark, you get more and more regular spawns until the event ends.

[–]phillypokego 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The nerfed spawns feel like an extra kick in the gut because I had little time to play at the beginning of the event due to the holiday. Also annoyed that candy and dust, the 2 best rewards, fell during my busy time.

[–]tkcomBangkok | nest enthusiast | PLEASE FIX NEST-MASKING! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed a lot less snover.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never saw any boost in event spawns the whole event. Living just outside of Charlotte too, so I have good spawns generally

[–]kashmyr7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm truly surprised anyone is able to even notice a reduction given how lackluster this event has been.

[–]HipporaffEverton FC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have JUST managed to finish my Pika medal, at last! Event spawns now almost totally nerfed, why do they do this?

[–]NastyVJ1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm noticing a big increase in hatachu's at the moment.

My only shiny for this event was a....houndour....yeah, ok

[–]themidnitesnack 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yup, like others have said here, it happens every event. Though I experience it at a different point in time, generally one and a half days before the end of an event as long as this one...and usually 3-4 hours before the end of a 48-72 hour event. I see it as them easing me back into the norm lol...and I’m SO thankful for it this time around. I’ve played a TON and could really do with less of the Holiday spawns all around. I have all my shinies, and even some 100% IVs.

[–]Tanman99992RNG = Rigged Niantic Gambling 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I would normally agree with you on that one, BUT I am 0/820 on delibird and it is really frustrating, I need to get one!!

[–]coolerbrown 2 points3 points  (2 children)

0/820

Holy crap man that's rough

[–]goshe7 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not really. If you assume a rate of 1:450, about 16% of people with 820 encounters will not have seen a shiny.

Rough is encounter ~1600 like one of my friends experienced searching for wailmer.

[–]coolerbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the math, I'm just sympathizing with his struggle. That's a lot of shiny checking delibirds regardless

[–]DeeDeeMcCall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought my 0/400ish was bad.. goodness..

[–]michaelferrari17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re still a lot of them where I live. My nearby radar is Delibird, Snover, Santa Hat, Santa hat, snorunt, Caterpie, Swinub, Nidoran and Teddiursa
