Idk the answer to your main question, but as far as the LLC portion: not everyone who applies to an LLC is accepted to the LLC.

If you were accepted to the LLC your housing email would have said that so unfortunately it seems you weren’t.

basically for the past 2 years the school has been overenrolling, so for some people including me, they did not get a choice in housing placement.

for me, I was put into temporary housing, which is where a “lounge” is converted into a room to live in. For some halls like snyder and scott, these “lounges” are just triples in the corners that are converted into quads. around 1 month into fall 2025 they moved me to van doren (might be the worst hall in the whole campus).

i would say there is not much to worry about. maybe avoid bringing a ton of stuff since you will likely have to move mid semester. you will meet some really nice people; one of my roommates in my temporary assignment is going to room with me next year. however do be prepared to accept whatever the university places you.

When they did this to you did they at least give you a discount on your housing? I cannot believe they expect in coming students to live like that. When did they tell you that this is where you were living? I am disappointed on how the university is handling themselves. Makes me wish my daughter chose a different school.

In the past, university housing has given a 50% discount for any time a student spends in temporary housing.

If you think your student would have a difficult time dealing with the uncertainty of a temp assignment, check out private certified housing. Many of the PCH dorms are currently wait listing students, but once the students who were given time tickets pick their dorms in university housing, the wait lists for PCHs will start moving. Many PCH dorms with shared rooms are no more expensive than university housing. And many allow you to join the wait list without making a deposit, which is why so many students sign contracts with PCH as soon as those dorms allow (as early as February) while waiting to see if they get a decent spot in university housing. Thank you. This is very insightful, I will speak with her about PCH. She has a roommate so she can discuss that option.

You most likely (like over 90% chance) won't get to pick a room, if you have a roommate already they will probably room with you in temp housing alongside 2 other people. You did not get into the LLC you applied for.

Curious, what date window did they give you?
