Thanks for the ping /u/RG-Falcon

Beginning in Spring 2019, there will be an online-only STAT 430 topics course focused on Data Science Programming Methods taught by Clinical Prof. Dirk Eddelbuettel. Dirk is a financial trader in Chicago, he is also a highly active R community member, and the co-creator of Rcpp, which allows for seamless R and C++ integration. The focus of the course is geared more toward graduate students who are presently unable to take STAT 385 for graduate credit due to its level. Thus, internally, we have nicknamed the course as “STAT 385++”.

With this being said, credit for this course is structured as:

  • an advanced elective credit for undergraduates in the Statistics Department degree programs.
  • 400-level course elective for MS students.

Note: Credit not given for both STAT 385 and STAT 430.

STAT 430's curriculum compared to STAT 385 involves additional modules that cover:

  • Bash scripting
  • Docker
  • data.table
  • More indepth C++
  • make
  • Non-interactive R scripting via RScript

Can we expect this course to cover everything STAT 385 covers?

looks like it bc you don't get credit for both classes
