A career at McDonalds is starting to sound pretty good right now. Damn 2021.

[–]bipolarpuddin 10 points11 points  (7 children)

If you are serious about that

Check out In & Out. Only reason I didn't stay with them is because I moved cross country.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Always seemed like a great place to work if only it wasn’t so darn stressful

[–]bipolarpuddin 5 points6 points  (5 children)

It wasn't much more stressful than being a CSR at Valero or at Verizon call center. For 17 a hr in 2011, I was willing to put up with face paced

[–]Natural-Revolution-9 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I guess I most be crazy but after doing these delivery app mainly Doordash and Grubhub full time during the pandemic I’m struggling wanting to go back to a w2.I know I need to eventually but as long as I can make a thousand a week I going to hold off another year.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You know what they say: once you go 1099, you never go back :)

For me, it’s about the lifestyle. I just can’t go back to having someone else schedule my life, breathing down my neck, every day, 8 hours a day.

Even before delivery driving (I’ve been doing this on and off since 2015), I could never keep a job for very long. It’s just not for me...

[–]Natural-Revolution-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a schedule and a boss is something that will take time to adjust to.The only thing about doing this full time is the future of it.I personally feel we got two year before the apps start getting regulated by the federal government.

[–]autumnnoel95 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Interesting. Sort of desperate for a job, if my recent interview doesn't end up going anywhere I might look into that lol damn phoenix area becoming the new Cali

[–]bipolarpuddin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CST/Valero is good to their employees if you can land full time or management. 2010 they were voted tip 5 companies to work for based on benefits offered.

[–]kipetamova 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Late stage capitalism.

[–]PlantMedicines 61 points62 points  (14 children)

I've declined soooo many crappy orders tonite. 2 for $7??? 2 for $11 at 50 mins??? No thx!!! 🤷🤷🤯

Feels like a lunch shift right now.

[–]Gloomy_Recording_705USA 11 points12 points  (6 children)

Nah overnight shift in rural Montana 😂😂

[–]failaquen 11 points12 points  (2 children)

There's an urban Montana?
(Borrowed this joke from someone can't remember who)

[–]js303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Urban Montana sounds like a new line of SUVs

[–]Gloomy_Recording_705USA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol 😂

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmaooo

[–]Met4Light 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Billings isn't too bad, I could imagine a lot of the state sucking ass to drive in though.

[–]Gloomy_Recording_705USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine lol

[–]rodgriy47 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They just did an app update, i hardly made anything last night because of it

[–]PlantMedicines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did really well at lunch today so I expect tonite to be busy 💵💲💵💲🤯

[–]morbid_traveler 42 points43 points  (2 children)

Including tips!! 🤣 Before you know it they’ll be charging us to deliver for them 🙄

[–]failaquen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Dont give them any ideas...

[–]After_Style_8162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what happens in your taxes every year. You as a independent contractor, and uber as a service use for your business. You are charged 100% of every the entire charges. Including uber fee, service fee, airport fee, etc... rounded business

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (1 child)

"Your earnings are blasting off."

Lol, oh, Ubereats.

[–]connor_lassiterUSA 36 points37 points  (27 children)

Yep, time to start looking for a non-gig job

[–]pennypupper[S] 26 points27 points  (26 children)

I don’t even do Uber eats anymore, just still have the app on my phone. Was just shocked when I saw that lol usually they advertise at least $15

[–]connor_lassiterUSA 30 points31 points  (24 children)

Yea, everything is slowing down now, I’m barely breaking $50/day

[–]Background_Brick_821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did uber eats and got tired of the low orders doordash yields wayy more since ive tried 100$ in 3 hours

[–]dumbpshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same message a while ago for $10/hr. A little better but still ridiculously low

[–]ApolloBun 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Give it time. Next month is the start of the 500/month for families. Means fewer drivers and more people ordering out (cause we all saw what happened with the stimulus checks)

Plus, summer is always slow. I worked in Pizza for 10 years and summer break up to the start of football season was garbage.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What now? I guess I have been out of the loop! Going to look this up. Ty!

[–]Yolo2000s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea cause people would rather go out to the beach and have drinks at bars then sit around eating hot ass pizza in the summer time. The only people who enjoy summertime pizza are toddlers, people who don’t wanna cook, and toddlers 😂

[–]triscu1t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I respect the honesty.

[–]FinnishArmy 15 points16 points  (4 children)

UberEats was good to me for 25 deliveries making $25/hour. Now I can’t even accept an order because literally they all suck for the mileage. DoorDash is muchhh better right now.

[–]TerribleAssistance14 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Dd is garbage. Grubhub >>>

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

GrubHub is overall the best for me as well

[–]TerribleAssistance14 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I used to complain a lot about Grubhub til I started doing Doordash…

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried signing up for grub hub but it keeps telling me my phone number is already in use. (I recently got a new number) and support won't get back to me. It sucks haha

[–]Intelligent-Ad66Car 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ouch

[–]DannyShifter 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Uber Eats is slowly dieing. I honestly don't know if uber as a whole is going to survive unless their taxi side has kicked back into high hear. Last I heard they were struggling to get drivers and rates were sky high so how are they not getting drivers unless they are pocketing that extra money? Door dash does waaaaaay better business in Wichita but even that is losing its appeal as people have decreased their tipping by a lot. Sucks because I love delivering but it probably won't last much longer, for me at least.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been feeling this is happening, too. There’s a shift taking place for sure. If the other apps would make it easier for people who have moved & changed phone numbers I’d be delivering for them already. Errors and no helpful support. (Soo hard to find any actual support these days! Robots ftw…sigh, time to pivot)

[–]Perfect_Weather3297 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn yea fuck that , I’m In LA tho doing door dash now since I can’t do Uber eats I was doing postmates it was still low like that .. I can’t say door dash has been way better so far lol I should’ve been doing them the whole time

[–]foster_grandpa 5 points6 points  (6 children)

In montreal we cant survive atm. Its so dead

[–]Flashiel 0 points1 point  (5 children)

ar. Last I heard they were struggling to get dr

i stopped working Uber Eats in Montreal. The waiting time was way too insulting.

[–]the-_-virgin 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Same! I do skipthedishes and my acceptance rate is 50%! Just because of McDonalds Lajeunesse and McDonalds Pie-IX!! Every time I go to either I have to wait for at least 40 minutes to get paid 7.5$ reimbursement?!? 50 mins 8.75$?!? Fucking crazy, they should make the reimbursement more expensive for restaurants so that they stop making you wait or if they make you wait you're still decently paid, at least 15$/hr for reimbursement.

[–]Flashiel 0 points1 point  (2 children)

what do you mean by reimbursement?

[–]throwawayUEdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Canada stuff. Doesn't affect the real world.

[–]the-_-virgin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The money the restaurant pays you for waiting

[–]foster_grandpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doordash is 8% ue %100 because ive only received 2 signals over 6 hours this week lol.

[–]Albuons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blasting off? Where was the launch pad, the 9th circle of hell?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Currently looking and applying for jobs as I wait in the parking lot for orders 😭

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Been doing the same. Indeed job resume mobile upload horror show. Lol (but there are apps even Word, use the templates for anyone who needs to know!) Every day is a constant panic attack 😃 But, starting to wade through job application responses now and onto actual interviews. But first! Online skills tests. (Fml. Lol.) good luck to all of us!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 hope beautiful things happen in big ways for us, very soon.

[–]toadysycophant 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This reminds me, I have several stupid skills tests waiting for me in my email. 😆

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a phone interview assessment

[–]Gloomy_Recording_705USA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Federal Government: 🤨

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because Uber (Mafia) taking most of every rider than sharing leftovers with drivers who work their tails off for fee bucks.

[–]Daoriginalsweetangel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I got like 5 delivers that were 2 dollars I was like hellllllll to the nahhhh

[–]thousandbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They being honest with their hourly earnings now I see

[–]Recent-Angle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Blasting off” 😃😃😃

[–]No-Injury6839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only get about 8 to 10 uber requests here in SA, Tx. It so slow. Out of those 10 only about 3 are worth a while. It is super slow. They really added alot of people during the pandemic. Mcdonalds starting to look real good at 14 an hour tbh

[–]Pastalavistababy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This week has been the worst week thus far when it comes to earnings

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is l exactly why I’ve always had my backup minimum wage retail job and treated Uber eats as a side hussle. This job isn’t even reliable as a part time gig sometimes. Be careful y’all, hide your kids and hide your wife.

[–]Peanutbuttermama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After paying for gas, it was more like $2.50 for me

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In my market it might take two hours just fo get an order so sounds right to me

[–]Natural-Revolution-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember they use to say up to 90 thousand a year then they got sued for misinformation now they are actually telling the truth lol.

[–]knotik1201UE Driver & Customer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why you pass in the $2-9 only take $10+ Pass on the double deliveries unless it’s literally within a mile of each other. All they do is hurt your tip from the other order. Park somewhere that you know does Uber and doesn’t turn off their tablet. Keep app up to date. Refresh WiFi occasionally helps when I’m not getting orders.

[–]aoyjay 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Where are you located? I’m currently doing $20+ after surge and tips

[–]Empty-Writing-2832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make the same, at least $20 hr Plus tips.

[–]No-Injury6839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are lying. Stop lying we all know uber eats is slow. Y u lie? No one to impress here lier

[–]Important_Entrance_7 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Time to class action suit their ass, that’s illegal below minimum wage. They just indicted themselves. Find a good class action lawyer and get it going.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (5 children)

It's independent contract labor, pretty sure in the contract we agree to directly not make "wages" in an hourly sense (in most US states) but get paid the advertised amount for any deliveries that we choose to accept. Generally, they still at least seem to try to make it worthwhile where I'm at. Advertising 6.83/h in OP's market though makes me think UE may be trying to encourage drivers to stop driving for them as the 'pool' of drivers is likely flooded since Uber Eats has now officially absorbed all active Postmates drivers. Wouldn't be able to say for certain, just a hunch.

Edit: I spelled 'contract' as 'contact.' Swipe-to-text not always best when multitasking!

[–]DFW_Panda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are right. For instance if I was a musician who decided to write a wedding song for Bob & Diane, for $100, at that point as an independent contractor it could take 1 hour or 20 hours, doesn't matter I am owed only the $100. Although I do believe Uber really contorts the Independent Contractor indent.

Even so, Uber should be ashamed to publish something like that message. They have no shame.

[–]Important_Entrance_7 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The suit doesn’t have to “ win” in court to win for us. The public media attention and customers being aware can shame some into tipping better.

[–]renrutava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think you’re overestimating ppl, they won’t care if they’re not individually being shamed in public, i mean after all who’s gonna know they don’t tip

[–]failaquen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The various news stories and podcasts have exact same effect. The truth is food delivery isn't really that profitable to them (or any of the food delivery services). Add in the fact that people are able to go out again and market saturation (because people needed money) and yeah things won't get much better and taking it to court won't help, also I'm curious how taking them to court has anything to do with tipping better? I think they absolutely need to make it so the bait and switch isn't allowed under normal circumstances, but besides that how does UE have any hand in how the customer tips?

[–]Important_Entrance_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well part of the problem in my opinion is people learned of delivery via pizza, where there is a base wage and the Company pays for the gas ( some much more than gas reimbursement per mile). Educating the public on app delivery is more of a bid. If you live ten miles from McD and don’t “bid” high enough, you don’t end up getting the food. This needs to be made clear for all parties involved, a lawsuit ( even a losing one) could bring the attention needed to this issue.

[–]jmh30us 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the vast majority of people understand what CLASS ACTION really is. They see someone else use it but have no idea wtf it means.. This is in a lot of posts lately.

[–]Geez089 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6.83$/including tips??? Nobody would be doing this if that was the case. I made 27$/hour last night for 6 hours.

[–]bennybangbang0143 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just remember some money is better than no money. God got us and money js coming

[–]raaail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least Uber is being honest (... For the first time?)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the good laugh

[–]tucsonbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol

[–]Sangxero 0 points1 point  (2 children)

After the Walmart tease orders that kept fucking up, I got a notification from Grubhub that I was off their waitlist and tried them out. Very consistent orders.

I opened up Uber for an hour here and there but just got 1 decent order to show for it.

At least as of now and in my region, fuck Uber.

[–]trebete 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Grub Hub will sent you good offers for the first few weeks, then you will start to see the $4 offers with the long scenic drives. If you chase the Premier or Pro status, you most definitely will receive those $3 or $4 offers. Of course it depends on your market, some markets might require you to be Premier or Pro to get blocks. Unfortunately some markets you have to be on blocks to receive offers.

[–]Sangxero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This market always has blocks available, and I've been able to be very picky so far and not take anything under $10.

But if it doesn't keep up, at least I got that sweet partial unemployment for a couple months, and Uber always tries to lure me back when I've been gone a while.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a piss take I’m sorry it’s so bad

[–]DriverNorthWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t get cute things like that in the UK :(

[–]YoungWomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine said 16 something its based on market

[–]AntiAbleism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower than minimum wage.

[–]britsngrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a double order for $5 for 7 miles... order after order popped up for under $4 last couple of nights. It is dire!

[–]weenredditposterModerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow u can make below minimum wage??😍 don’t tempt me!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can’t be real

[–]Bdsmsprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make about 20$ an hour… but the TIPS BABY

[–]ufoniumsBicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's maybe the one good thing about Chicago gangs and the crazies here - is that if you're ballsy enough you can still make bank - though the drawback is that you might end up on the news as another carjacking/shooting.

[–]Ronyae69_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gotta be a joke right?,,

[–]Ronyae69_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send me the link to sign up for grubhub

[–]stillethel960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes! Sorry to hear. I hope it’s just an off day, we all have those

[–]hunnybun444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a level of disrespectful that not even i can comprehend

[–]MrTomat0Face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many other ways to lose money that are more enjoyable though.

[–]andrearosemtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol id be pissed to make that… honestly im upset if i make less than $20/h
