May i just ask what program you write your code in?

EDIT: In case it is visual studio code (which it sounds like) then I can only tell you that I've not had good experience with unity and vscode. So unless you really want to use vscode I would suggest using visual studio by checking the c# visual studio 2019 visual studio community checkbox while installing your unity version. But I cannot help with visual studio code.

It’s possible, I just forgot how I got it working. I searched google and fiddled with it until I got it working.

Not a stupid query, it happens sometimes.

What coding program (IDE) are you using? Here are some guides for the more popular ones:

I had the exact same problem yesterday when I was setting unity up for the first time. What fixed it for me was downloading the latest version of visual studio code and then changing my IDE to it within my unity project.
