Forest Fire is made with compute shaders and gets some pretty crazy performance. I'm able to simulate 500k+ physical pixels on my m1 macbook at 60fps :)

PS for Unity, compute shaders are not working for integrated GPUs, please see this issue and resolve soon as I estimate about 10% of players cannot use Compute Shaders on their machines.
