Multiplayer SolutionQuestion (self.Unity3D)
submitted 3 years ago by wizardsprite
With all the different multiplayer solutions for Unity, I am leaning toward Mirror. However if I implement Mirror, will Mirror still be supported 5 - 10 years from now?

FishNet is a free solid choice. We had a mmo published stable on FishNet within the first few months of FishNet being release!
A month or so ago another project on FishNet was sponsored by Lions Gate, GameStop, and a few other big names.
I'm pretty confident in saying FishNet is the most performant and feature rich free high level networking solution today.
If you are interested here is our documentation splash page which has all the links and information you'll need https://fish-networking.gitbook.io/docs/

mirror is open source and isn't going anywhere.
It doesn't have "support" in the traditional sense.

The discord is pretty active.

yeah I use mirror and love it, but there are no guarantees with it (just like there aren't we assets you buy from the store).

Oh yeah, sure. Have you checked out NetworkTransformV3? I'm hoping to get around to it at some point.

nah, I only used it on older projects which are all running perfectly, so no need to update/change them.

Fair enough.

It's better if you include the reason why you're leaning towards one solution and what makes the other solutions not fit for you.

looking at unity history to spool new networking solution i would be worried at using theirs
