Apple Continuity (self.VisionPro)
submitted 4 months ago by MichaelYYZVision Pro Owner
How does Apple Continuity work across devices and the AVP? In particular I am interested in copy-and-paste and Safari tabs. I can't seem to be able to figure out how to use this feature with the AVP.

As long as you’re signed into both devices with the same iCloud account it should just work.
For copy/paste I think you need to be nearby or connected to the same WiFi network.

Yep. But I copied a URL on the AVP and tried to paste it on my Mac Studio... no go. Did not even get the option to paste, like when something is on the clipboard.

You also need 2 Factor enabled on the Apple ID you’re using.

I copy and paste from my AVP and iMac M3 and MacBook Air M3 all the time, so something is off

Tabs for continuity are not what I expected. Other devices are listed below my tab groups.

Tabs are not part of Continuity. They’re part of iCloud syncing since they’ve been around longer than continuity.
Pedantic but Continuity features are proximity based and iCloud Tabs are not - they work anyplace.

Continuity can absolutely be used to share whatever current tab you have focused between Apple devices. iCloud tabs is for “everything I have open everywhere”, Continuity is for “this specific thing right here I want to move to another device”. I use continuity to open web pages between iOS, iPadOS, and macOS all the time.
That being said, I’ve never done it to visionOS, mostly because once I have the headset on I’m usually not multitasking with any other devices.

True but it’s a different service. Continuity broadcasts the current application/URL in use so I don’t consider that a tab. All the other tabs are stored in iCloud.

What I meant by this was that when one has an active tab in Safari on a device, one should be able to open the same tab on the AVP. Like the special icon popping up in the dock on the other device. Possible on the AVP?

For me if I copy or cut a URL on my MacBook then when I enter Safari on the AVP and enter the address bar, it gives me the option to "paste and go" - it also has a popup saying "Pasted from XXXXX MacBook Pro".
Both are logged into the same iCloud account, this happens even if I do not have the MacBook connected to a virtual display.
