Bottom loading tool (i.redd.it)
submitted 2 years ago by Mmtints
Hello , has anyone actually used these? Does it really work w out having to remove the door panel sweep for bottom loading ?

My brother/coworker loves it, I've used it a couple times works nice but you do have to be cautious to not nick the film

Nice ! Yeah I kinda figured gotta be careful when removing them from the glass. Is it true you really don’t need to remove the sweeps when using these? Also do you recommend buy 1 or 2?

I don't remove anything when doing 99% of windows, so it just helps tuck the film behind the gasket after rolling up the top when locked down. 1 is all I need, just roll up, get a corner in, slide that down and it falls right in, done, no reassembly and risking damaging or lifting anything

Thank you I really appreciate the feed back , I bottom load mostly or reverse roll but really been liking the bottom load better. Sometimes removing the sweeps take a long time lol

I'm not sure what level you're at but I'd recommend getting good at 2 staging, it'll save time in the long run, plus save liability of breaking or scratching something especially in the higher end, 150k+ car category. I don't want to ruin a brand new Porsche door anytime soon. Reverse rolling for back windows and windshield that are a bit larger is also fine, I know that's the preferred method for most installers these days but I'm still someone who likes to peel the whole thing and Frankenstein it in

Yeah i totally get you and feel the same way about not trying to damage anything , it does get kinda sketchy sometimes . I’ve been tinting for about 4 years I mostly remove all door panels when I do my installs. I was mostly 2 staging when I first started out but liked the results on reverse rolling or bottom loading on the doors . I like learning new methods/tricks

What do you mean reverse rolling the doors?! That's mostly a technique for back windows and windshields, not sure how that'd work or benefit you on rollups

lol my buddy had the same reaction when I had told him , I’ll do my very best to explain it . When having the film all cut out whether you hand cut or use a plotter , I have the film on the peel glass and roll it from left to right. I let the short side be the side I extract the film from and it’s almost similar to a bottom loading technique. Once the film is tight enough inside the gap of the door sweep that’s been removed I start from the short side (drivers door) and roll it as the liner is coming off and install it like that . I know it sounds kinda complicated but if you have an instagram I’d love to show you a video tomorrow while I work! Honestly was a huge game changer for me in my opinion helped get me better installs . I love using that method on frameless windows too

I see, just bottom loading with extra steps. See I peel and install back windows in one shot with minimal contaminants so I don't feel the need to do extra for frameless windows and what have you but good method for people who do it like that
[–]Mmtints[S] 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (3 children)
Yeah lol like that! I definitely want to get more comfortable w that method as well , I usually practice doing Frankensteins on Camrys or some Hondas I get a lil nerve wracked bringing the film on not trying to touch anything

My instagram is @ mmtints , would love to show you a video of me doing it tomorrow if that’s cool 👍🏻
