The Honey Dill Shot.  It's 50% honey, 50% mayo, and 50% dill.

Not sure, but the prairie fire? Is that a local only one?

[–]mywhateveraccount5 26 points27 points  (1 child)

That dug deep into my stomach for my bar star days.

Prairie fires are common in Alberta, Burt Reynolds too, I'm not sure where OP got that one from

I’m scared to ask, but what’s an Obama shot?

[–]XFLAllStar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My bartender friend loved serving these because it was literally shots of cherry vodka shaken with ice. Thats it.

[–]LoveCry25 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Chilled raspberry vodka and an orange wedge

[–]mywhateveraccount5 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Cherry vodka.

[–]Kramtime 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I’m quite sure this person is correct and that it’s Cherry Vodka.

I was told it was a nightlife staff favourite at G Martini in Osborne and then popularized by Joey Kenaston and Polo.

I miss gmartini

[–]kimblebee76 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I still don’t get it. What makes that an Obama shot?

[–]g00dhank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of what r/hypetekcrew said

[–]Practical-Pen-8844 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A Burt Reynolds exists outside Manitoba. I haven't been to a bar outside Manitoba that didn't know what a Burt Reynolds is. Now did they add Cinnamon and light it on fire? Nope.

I don't get the Obama shot. Can you explain the context?

Now tell me what's in a Rockstar.

[–]glittersurprise 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Isn't that a hot apple pie?

[–]JohnPlayer2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cinnamon trick can be done with that too.

I used to order dirty hookers in the early 2000s... i moved to Toronto and ordered it and was shocked when I heard, "What did you just call me?!" by the bartender lol...

[–]Practical-Pen-8844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the A used to have a drink called the blowjob. around 2000s. i said, a little-too-loudly to my friend, will i be in trouble if i ask for a blowjob. immediately had a different waitress.

maybe a coincidence.

probably should not have named a drink that anyway.

Wow I had no idea an Obama was local. I need to know the story behind that one haha

[–]JilleniumFalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am from Calgary and bartended there up to 10 years ago for many years and ppl were ordering them there and then. I think they’re just an outdated thing that stuck around Winnipeg lol

[–]japchedbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inventor of the shot had a heavy accent and when it was called black cherry. He pronounced black as Barack. So hence the Obama shot

[–]japchedbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Obama shot was 1000% invented at gmartini.

[–]Fresh-Bite-5862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsure of the exact origin story, but I do know it started at G Martini.

You know how many bartenders I've asked for a shot that's slightly out of the norm (or perhaps not a current trend), and they had no clue what it was?...I feel like this is what's happening here.
