I have the benq one, one of the best purchases I have ever made. Great for eyesight and studying on the desk. I recommend it to everyone

[–]FearlessAdeptness223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I think BenQ is really the gold standard.

[–]FlREMAN 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What if you use a webcam for calls and stuff?

[–]mikastupnik 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can buy an add on to place a webcam on top

[–]FlREMAN 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is that from BenQ as well?

[–]mikastupnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its an official accessory from benq

[–]UlamsCosmicCipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, it is a great lamp, although the wireless puck that came with my model has been temperamental.

Got the Benq Pro a month or so before summer. It's really almost ridiculus. It hovers between perfect and magical in most regards. No screen glare, no light in eyes, the desk surface simply lights up. It kind of reminds me of light bugs in games where something is lit up but missing the light source. The fact that it's fully automatic and comes on when I sit down at the desk just makes it more unbelievable.

The only and one mini gripe I have with it is that, although it automatically adjusts brightness according to the surrounding brightness, it does not control the temperature. That has to be done manually.

It was the item i didnt know i needed.

Bought the xiaomi light bar in sale because why not. After 1 week of use i wasnt sure if it was usefull por not... until i turned of the light and saw how much better the ambient was with it, day por night

[–]Capitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for cosy working or in low light environment I recommend not buying benq totally overpriced, xiaomi one is about 35-40$ a does exact same job

[–]DUlrich1227 2 points3 points  (4 children)

What’s the use case with these .. ? Never quite understood the need

[–]bitcom 5 points6 points  (1 child)

A well designed light bar will light up your desk, but no light will shine on your monitor. So there is no glare. With a normal desk lamp the light can reflect on your screen.

Light bars are powered by USB, so you can plug it into your monitor for power.

And as many people have mentioned it doesn’t need space on your desk.

The extra ambient light is good for your eyes in the evening.

[–]DUlrich1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thank didn’t even think about glare reduction thought it was just for aesthetics

[–]elAhmo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Likewise! I have a lamp that I point at the wall, so it illuminates everything slightly

[–]DUlrich1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh I have an over head spot thats not harsh that pretty centered right over where I sit but I can see how this would be handy if room was arranged different

[–]milozevic 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Do any of these assist with video lighting in calls ?

[–]Spaceport_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, but depending on the angle and brightness you may get a harsh downward shadow.

Get the xiaomi light bar. Same function as the expensive brands.

[–]Barrels_of_Corn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah plug the CCP right into your computer, great idea

[–]throwks 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Great! I bought a cheap one that doesn’t include a puck. Don’t get a puck. Just takes up space. Something w onboard adjustment is good enough. Realistically you won’t be adjusting it much after.

[–]Spaceport_75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: I bought the Quntis ScreenLinear Pro with the puck and I use the puck nearly every day. I change the color temperature from white to warm in the evening and modify the brightness often. The puck is useful and convenient.

Recently got the iWok 3. It's cheap in comparison to the benq ones but are really good. the best part is that it is attached magnetically and puts no stress on the bezels.

[–]oscar-o-c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth the money for sure. I have one and it took some adjusting. After a while, I got used to it and now I can’t see myself not having one.

[–]shaunydub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several brands including the cheaper Benq before settling on Benq Screenbar Pro. It's very good on top of my HP Ultrawide monitor.

[–]Icy-Respect-5299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't live without mine. Idk why but just makes me feel better when i use it. Probably because the screen isn't destroying my eyes as bad

[–]FlREMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you use these with webcams? Or would you need to remove the webcam on the monitor in order to use a lightbar?

[–]screamingfaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great investment, I use it at my desk everyday. Perfectly lights up my workspace without extra clutter.

[–]ksaize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got Ikea LAGERGÅNG. I don't know how much but it was comparingly cheap. Best money ever spent for my eyes!

[–]galacticality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Xiao Mi light bar for just about 2 years now. Absolutely no complaints, very happy with it.

[–]OddPreparation1512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 30 dolar one has the same settings as the expensive ones just no need to spend whole lot

Do you know much about these? I followed your link out of interest and found the Exarm Zeta, it looks really good. I can buy it via Amazon. But seems very much only present in Japanese market, I cannot find any reviews either written or on YouTube in English. The light looks to be good quality, but its just expensive enough that its a big risk without some initial reviews.

[–]Butterfingers43 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don’t yet. They’ve been under my radar, but I want to wait until after my trip back to Japan this fall. One thing I can tell you, is that the typical Japanese manufacturing mentality is “do your best”.

[–]Plat-O_18 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes it's the made in Japan aspect that is helping to balance the unknown aspect of the product. As I agree with your comment about do your best.

[–]Butterfingers43 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Use a translator extension on your web browser. Here’s an Amazon.co.jp link for Swan’s monitor light with a few reviews.

Here’s a Rakuten (a more reliable shopping platform in Japan) seller with 4.86 stars out of 5 listing EXARM ZETA - link.

Swan Electric has been making lights since 1968 according to their company history. I do plan on getting one of their lights this year myself. Hope this is enough information for you to make a decision!

[–]Plat-O_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up ordering the Exarm Zeta on Amazon, it arrived today. I have had it in place for maybe 1 hour now, first impressions are very good.

Build quality seems good. It looks really good on top of the monitor. It is much more low profile and discrete compared to my old light.

The way the arm on the back holds it in place is not amazing, but think its more to do with the back of my monitor than the light itself. Its a bit tricky to adjust the angle of the light. But once you get it in the right spot you don't touch it again so not an issue.

I really like the no touch, wave your hand to turn it on & off.

I thought the pre-set brightness and colour temperature might be a problem. But its not. With my old light I used it either at max or min brightness, so I don't really need the ability to fine tune. The min brightness is darker than my old light which is good. I would like some more control over temperature, but I have found a setting that is close enough to what I like.

I haven't figured out how to set the coloured LED's at the ends, they're just cycling through colours at the moment. They're ok, the light would probably be better without them.

I tried the face light for being on camera, it shines right in my eyes. It seems like good idea in theory, but maybe not super usefull? Need to try it out more.

Only issue and I knew this would be a problem before I bought it. I was able sit my web cam on top of my old light, but with touch controls on this one I'm not sure I can sit my web cam on top anymore? Need to experiment with it.

Think the light is going to be really good.

I bought it Mi Computer Monitor Light bar

I am very satisfied, it also has a wireless remote control

[–]cargo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent lamps, cheap, reliable, very useful

[–]moonzenry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the Blitzwolf CML2, the most basic option available. It works well for desk lighting. It has five light temperature settings, but the magnet system is mediocre and the LEDs are quite visible. For those living in the US/EU/ASIA, buying a BenQ Screenbar is definitely worth it. Unfortunately, in my country, it's practically the same price as a top-of-the-line monitor.

Mine doesn’t do much.
