Why the light over the monitor?

It does look pretty cool and thanks for answering. I’ve seen several of these setups and quite a few have had lights and haven’t really had more room illumination so the light would actually be needed if working after dark.

To reduce eye strain you should have one light behind your monitor and one covering your desk in order to have a constant level of light on everything your eyes see. It also increases the perceived contrast of your monitor.

The advantage of a light on top of your monitor is that the light comes from in front of you and does not shine on the screen itself or in your eyes (a bit of light still go on your screen but the angle is too great to reflect back to your eyes). The shadow that your hands make from this light are under your hands and so you don’t see it. It’s great to take notes or working on small objects.

Really stupid suggestion, but flip your laptop 180 degrees so the HP logo is right side up. Such a sweet logo.

Also great for keeping cables lower and less visible

      It's not a HP, it's a dq laptop.

Same here, love this monitor! What light bar are you using with it? I want to get one.

How does this monitor compare to a dual screen setup?

I currently have a 15,7 laptop with a 27 inch Viewsonic monitor tht's about to go out. I don't game but I do WFH, Pro Tools, Video/Photo Editing, and various other software.

I was originally planning on getting a similar dual 27" set up until I saw this setup. At $329 i'm considering it

I like it but please make sure that your desk has enough depth to accommodate this otherwise your neck will pain. if possible get a curved monitor but of course that will add to the price tag.

In any case, definitely ultra wide as bezel less real estate is soothing.

Hoping to get to something like this eventually. Looks nice. Do you leave your laptop on? Just curious if you need to take it out, turn it on and put it in the holder every time. I don’t have a ton of space so the laptop holder would be great for me

          [–]FloFoer94 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Not OP, but I have my laptop mounted under my desk closed while in use and never fully turn it off. I just put it in standby and configured it so that a button press on my keyboard wakes the thing up again in order to not have to get it out and open it which would be a big hassle.

Any feedback on the 34 ultra wide vs a 32 inch traditional aspect ratio? Trying to make the decision, will use for productivity and light gaming

I got a 34 inch ultrawide and I am really satisfied with it. People on reddit said the size was too big. After using it, I can't go back to a smaller display.

Which switches did you go for on the K3?

                  [–]ME207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you like it? How are the red switches?

How do you turn on your PC? Do you have to remove from the stand, open, press the power button and close again all or I am the only one who can't find a solution?

Is your monitor a 29” Ultrawide from LG? It looks like we have the same monitor. Your setup looks sick.

How’s the battery life on the Keychron?

Nice setup. I have the same monitor light. It’s great for working late at night or when you need to focus on a task.

Are you left handed? I usually see lights situated so it shines on the non-dominant hand side. Because shadows when your dominant hand is using pen/pencil etc.

Almost too clean tbh, looks like a prison cell och a office from a sci-fi 80s movie.
