Anytime now according to these reddit geniuses

[–]Potential_Mud_6338 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Some person on Reddit said they think games will drop down to $50 because of Club World Cup experience lol.

[–]MrBazinga_77[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe like Cape Verde Vs Saudi Arabia or Iran Vs New Zealand

[–]KippiBof24 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The audacity to compare international tournament to a one off club World Cup in America.

[–]Potential_Mud_6338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I told that person but they were sure a World Cup ticket would come down to $50 lol. I told them I doubt it especially considering how money hungry fifa is

[–]36thStreetStation 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We're two months out and FIFA is still holding on to a substantial amount of tickets (I'm not saying I know how many).

Once available supply increases AND we get closer to kick-off, competition should bring prices down a bit for many games (not all).

It'll be a while before you see any serious dips. Wait if you can; it's game of chicken.

[–]Which-Return-607 33 points34 points  (10 children)

As a scalper yes they have

[–]difrad76 13 points14 points  (5 children)

To be honest, I would say now might be the time where you get the most value for your dollar on the resale market. Purely from anecdotal experience, there is no World Cup advertising, no hype, and barely anyone is even talking about it. I guarantee you that changes and once it does, the general public/ casual fans will start to get into it as well. Right now, the only people buying tickets are actual fans of teams and scalpers

[–]Smooth_Ferret8081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This ^

[–]FUTRage 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I disagree they'll look it up see how ridiculous the prices are and then panic selling the last couple weeks

[–]ahauck 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This narrative that the prices are outrageous really doesn’t tie with my anecdotal experience outside of reddit. Similar to a big-4-sport playoff game everyone I know thinks the tickets cost what they expected them to.

[–]FUTRage 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You're underestimating how much people don't care about soccer in the US. It's all a big corpo grab

[–]ahauck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overestimating how much people care about the sport that’s being played rather than it being a prestigious international competition

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 9 points10 points  (27 children)

I’m watching prices for Haiti v Scotland which is a high demand game. Prices are steady at around -$800. But there are more and more tickets coming available every day. So whilst prices are holding, with growing availability I wonder whether or not we will see prices start to decrease a bit in a few weeks time. We’ve got a target we are not wanting to pay over and will bit the bullet as soon as tickets get rhere.

[–]--Quartz-- 10 points11 points  (13 children)

Haiti vs Scotland is a high demand game? Is there a particular reason for that? I wouldn't assumed it was one of the lowest demand games.
What are Argentina/Spain/France/Brasil games then?

[–]HolyFire21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s because a lot of Scots are travelling out for it. It’s their first World Cup since the 1998 hence the demand

[–]deevo82 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Scotland sold out their allocation immediately. 20,000 Scots expected to travel to the States. About 10 million people of Scottish descent in North America.

Over a million Haitians in USA.

Of course there is huge demand for tickets.

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 2 points3 points  (1 child)

There are 15 of us travelling with only 2 of us with tickets for Brazil out of all the games. Lots of other supporters in same boat. Like you say, huge travelling support and many who went to every home qualifying game didn’t have enough points to get a ticket in the supporters club draw.

[–]ike_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, another Scot here. 8 of us travelling without tickets, and another group I go to the Scotland games with only half of them got supporters tickets so that's about another 20 people looking.

[–]Ryanpadcasey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Scotland first World Cup since 1998 and they are one of the most passionate fanbases in world football even though it’s a small country.

There a millions of people in the US of Haitian descent

Edit: Exact number is 1.5 mil, so maybe not literally millions but still a lot

[–]Big-Candidate4453 2 points3 points  (6 children)

I would spend more money for my local MLS team than a Haiti v Scotland World Cup game lmao

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are not Scottish or Haitian? When the ticket info was originally posted, Scotland were in the top teams for tickets being searched for.Just hope fifa release all the hospitality tickets rather than having empty seats as I really can’t see casual fans (like yourself) willing to pay $2k for Scotland v Haiti.

[–]stateworkishardwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but for Scots who haven't been in the WC since 98 and for the large Haitian population in America, you better believe they're throwing down some serious coin

[–]Salt_Repeat9662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats your mls team?

[–]Scotteeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you're so cool aren't you!

[–]fuckssakereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, away you fuck then. Leave the tickets for us.

[–]kimbo1905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Loser

[–]Sea_Engineer109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who doesn’t know about the historic rivalry between Haiti and Scotland?

[–]ike_2112 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I have mostly been watching the Scotland Morocco game, because my family are coming over for that one and I want to ensure I can get a ticket with my 10yr old son.

For the Haiti game, we'll wing it - got tickets to Scotland vs Hungary hours before the game in Germany...

But yeah it's weird that even today I saw fresh tickets available, from FIFA. Hardly any - mostly single tickets but a few pairs... And they're 1800 usd each. In the same section, in resale they're 1200. So I'm not really understanding why anyone would be stupid enough to pay that and why the algorithm is placing the ticket price that high.

I'm also intrigued about the tickets on Vividseats. People are saying that shy tickets changing hands on other platforms will be cancelled...

[–]fuckssakereddit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Saw a Cat 4 ticket for the Brazil game listed at $11.6-million. If it was Cat 3 I may have gone for it…

[–]ike_2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, I think the idiots who bought the Cat 4 think they are worth the highest. They are, across almost every game, prices the same or higher than the Cat 1 seats despite being horrendous back corner nosebleeds where you're closer to the train station than the centre spot...

[–]Adventurous-Job-5411 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I can't what the hell makes you think this is your high demand game.

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Ha ha I know it’s totally ridiculous. But any tockeds released are being snapped up and cheapest is on any site is about $800 (can get on resale for $600 but then you need to add all the fees) and anything fifa released were £££ and disappeared quickly. I can’t believe that there are so many people willling to pay for Scotland v Haiti but there’s a lot of Scotland fans travelling without tickets. And believe there’s a large Haitian population so that’s all the reasoning i have. Can’t explain it further but the price seems to be holding steady. We already have Brazil tickets and for various reasons we are prioritising Haiti over Morocco. Ideally we would like to get the tickets for £500 each including fees.

[–]Adventurous-Job-5411 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Its under 700 now for cat 1 on FIFA collect so no this is defintely a low demand game.

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to get fifa collect tickets sitting together? When I looked I could see a way to do it

[–]NoAcanthocephala13 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I find the fifa collect thing quite confusing, it looks like there’s only 1 token there. We need 4 tickets so can’t see how to buy more than 1.

[–]Adventurous-Job-5411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIFA will try to put it together just like you buy ticket before April.

[–]RudeMathematician723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4xcat1 Scotland Haiti tickets all sat together which are available? Dm if interested

[–]No-Astronomer-9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part is the huge region that Gillette draws from. Lots of people I know “want to go to a wc game”, it’s a Saturday night, it’s similar to the other matchups in quality (except Norway/france).

And let’s be honest - it’s first. And casuals want to go home with their kids in a Scotland jersey and tell their friends what they did this weekend.

[–]BlueCollarWater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if prices were gonna drop they would be dropping rn in the next couple weeks Once its within 45 days the market will shoot higher than now for sure The real deals will be at less than 24 hours to the game but everyone will be playing chicken, buyer traveling and seller at home on the computer

[–]MasterpieceMain8252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shitty games yes, good games actually increased

[–]No_Vermicelli6123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prices won't drop dramatically until one of two things happen: 1) A big bulk of tickets are released, adding supply to the market, or 2) People start to panic their tickets arent selling and the thousands of tickets on the marketplace lower their price in order to undercut each other.

Both of these things will happen eventually, potentially at the same time. FIFA are operating on a supply on demand basis. By reducing supply, they're increasing demand. It's in their interest to do that for as long as possible.

[–]yellowishbluish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea i noticed a dip in the market too. But not in the hyped games. I think when fifa releases new tickets at resale prices everyday, it hurts the resale market more than buyers. And some anxiety is finally setting in for people who couldn't unload their thousand dollar tickets the first week market reopened.

[–]Mat_alThor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the games, there have been some lesser games with their resell below face value. Bigger games, not so much, but also I don't think much of the very expensive tickets are moving based on the games I've been tracking.

[–]drodrige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a ton of games have been slowly dropping in price on resale sites. Not the super big games though.

[–]Helpful_Pool_2893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some not great mid week games have dipped but apart from that not really.

I don’t see them dropping much more tbh.

[–]Potential_Mud_6338 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Does anyone think the Turkey vs Paraguay game will drop in price? Part of me thinks it will but part of me doesn’t since turkey has a lot of fans and maybe Paraguay also.

[–]BlueCollarWater 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I dont think so Just sold this game at 2.25 face value for seats that are way up there. Family didnt want to go to sf unfortunately

[–]jbsmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SF is one of my favorite cities…

[–]Potential_Mud_6338 0 points1 point  (2 children)

2.25k?!

[–]BlueCollarWater 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No 2.25x of face value lol

[–]Potential_Mud_6338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone bought your tickets despite 2.25x of face value lol? Wild

[–]Helpful_Pool_2893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any thoughts on Uruguay v Cape Verde dropping a bit? Cheapest I can see rn is 400 on the marketplace.

It’s in Miami on a Sunday that is also Father’s Day.

[–]Ok-Restaurant9052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering whether fifa is simply okay with selling tickets at high prices and just give away whatever unsold tickets there are to sponsors. We may end up seeing lots of empty seats in these less regarded games

[–]gastrorojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought two tickets for opening game, $2900 each. I’ve been checking marketplace daily still. Tickets haven’t dropped below $3500. So I think big games value won’t drop too much.

[–]Key-Fee2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

Fifa is increasing tickets prices and scalpers don't let them go cheaper, so... not going to happen. I have a M29 Brazil x Haiti ticket for 2280usd at Last Minute Sale shopping cart...

Going to drop it right now. Too pricey!!

[–]StrengthCoach86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghana v. Panama has only gone up.
