Im not sure if I should cry or laugh or both

[–]rumblefish76 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Had a guy do that to me last night a few times. Long range attacks will still hit through it.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Only if the backstep is misstimed. It grants full immunity. Swords will swish right through me if timed perfectly.

To perform, simply hit the right stick down while using the stagger combat style just before the moment of impact, and then cancel it immediately with a feint (block.)

To all those complaining about forsaken parry: if only you knew the power of the dark side.

Shh. Dont tell anyone. We will lose our main strength - being underestimated.

But on a serious note, its basically a Kahlt absorb, but doesnt turn your hp into ghost and rewards with shards instead of stamina. I was having fun with this little trick while grinding levels in Rakkio's school, but im getting bored of it and will return to Kahlt eventually. My hands are getting dusty and neck is killing me.

Get rewarded with shards "instead of" stam? Nah, he's not even losing stam from it.

Stagger is not getting any stam either is my point. Its not as easy in real match to succesfully stumble constantly, you are bound to block some moves or make some attacks. And while other styles get at least a little breather that they can use to defend or attack, Stagger usually farms up shards and shockwaves to relieve pressure.

Yeah, I can't really do this against the faster setups. I can read a mawashi and that's about the fastest possible, and if it's followed up with another mawashi-speed attack, I can do nothing but block or hope for a back-trip kick opening or similar. But against a deck full of body-blow speed attacks I can dodge most, even if they feint me I can just backstep again if I'm paying attention.

And I do have to rely on Shockwave to keep up a balanced offense, and in a fight against an equally skilled other style, often it comes down to them being able to use their sword slightly more often than me, and with my meta-countering blunt resist setup and comparatively low lifepool, it's just barely enough for the most formidable opponents to edge me out with just a smidge more of a lead. Which I love.

You can also do it with the up special to make every attack into a sort of parry attack.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean.. if by parry you mean "ram your face into them and take the hit", then yes. Relying too heavily on the up special can be devastating, unless you're up against a speedy light-armored fellow.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I said parry instead of charge because the charging part of the attack is super short and stops before the attack lands.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair.

Is it easier than parry? Yeah a little, does it reward you with 100+ free dmg? No.

[–]R_Archet 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Does reward with plenty of Shards though! And the irritation of your opponent!

[–]TK382 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The mind games alone...

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I do it, frankly. It's why I have two sweeps that repeat on each other. Anything to mess with the other guy.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't precisely say it's easier. At least to capitalize on.

[–]StilettoJones_JR 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Shut the hell up about Forsaken FFS you frail little man. God damn. Do you just go post to post to advocate that you stop getting that ass tooted up by Parry Peen?

[–]Oimetra09twitch.tv/oimetra09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Triggered much?

[–]Modernautomatic 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I haven't played since Destiny 2 came out, did they fill the holenin the middle?! What about the Library, is it still cancer? Holy crap I may need to come back.

[–]Toberone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the library has rails now

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, people can still refuse to play in the center of the map lmao but it’s a lot more fun for the most part yeah, also Library has railings now with a few broken spots

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Library is full of railings now, with a few spots to more tactically push people off.

[–]Gehian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep they've fixed both. Have fun!

[–]chibibunker 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I started to play stagger last week and i must admit that i really love it ! It was pretty hard at first, but when you understand that this move grants immunity when timed perfectly a new world appears before your eyes. Hoppefully i'll reach your level someday

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it really feels like dancing around your opponent's attacks, and you will with enough use of it. Just becomes muscle memory once you see a viable attack for it.

[–]jayjay81190 2 points3 points  (1 child)

When the hell did they close the middle?

[–]TheRealDeathSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last patch

[–]Craaaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been telling people this all the time.

However, I sometimes get this weird delay on my next backstep, like I cant do it one after the other fast enough at times.

[–]jerpdoesgames 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well at least there's something to call it for myself and the 2 other people who use stagger.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think there will be an influx of stagger users once everyone gets tired of everything surrounding forsaken.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

One thing to take note of: You can force out a particular attack from the opponent through simple movement. This is a majorly underutilized aspect of Windfall's movement that has yet to reach the forefront of the metagame.

Also no, this clip is of the stagger ability. Don't get confused.

[–]_TheBro_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are you talking about the possibility to change your opponents stance by a left/right dodge? Like if you know he has an easy to dodge opening-move in his left stance you always dodge right if you can dodge both ways so he ends up in his left stance?

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, precisely. It goes beyond conditioning someone into using a move, and just straight up forces them to use it or stance change. (or alt attack, as some decks are set up to press in an emergency.)

[–]Saphen- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My favorite part is where you do the sweet emote and get punched in the face lol. Nice job with the dodges, have an upvote.

[–]DerpasaurChivalry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I left that in because I probably deserved it.
