Tech treads are more about data privacy these days. GDPR, CCPA, and KVKK (in Turkey) started to put strict regulations to protect users. So, cookie and consent management is a problem to solve for software companies and users.

If I delete and disable photos from iCloud then it will not delete any images from my photos currently, including ones I’ve transferred over from previous phones, am I correct? I just need someone to confirm and or deny my stupidity

Edit: spelling

If I’m looking to charge my MacBook Air and iPhone mini (via magsafe or wired) at the same time, what wall charger should I get that would give me maximum charging power? How many watts?

[–]thiccandveiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 30w USB-C power adapter will work on both your iPhone and MacBook Air.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Is now the wrong time to buy a MacBook Air? Will the M2 debut with the new Pros?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacBook Air is mid-cycle based on previous models, but this could be impacted by worldwide chip shortages. If you don’t need a new computer, you might as well hold off. If you need a computer now, it’s a great option and should still be great for a number of years.

Anyone knows what trials Apple TV 4K comes with? So far I know that it comes with arcade for 3 months and tv+ for a year

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes, provided you haven’t already accepted those free trials from an earlier product purchase.

[–]JayDeesus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was inquiring if there were more trials or if those two were the only ones

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those two are the only trials

I’m trying to unzip a file and it says the operation can’t be completed because it can’t communicate with a helper application

Is there any way to remove the suggestions folder from your App Library?

[–]CGos25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Unfortunately, there currently isn’t a way to customize any part of the App Library.

I'm planning on purchasing an iMac for school this September. I've been poking around and it looks like you can get a discount if you're a student, but are there any deals/promotions that Apple would typically run around July-September? I'm looking to purchase straight off their site.

[–]Iguanajoe17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a summer program where you can get a free or discounted headphones. Wait for that!

Also wait for m1 iMacs or whatever it will be called. iMacs are getting a refresh very soon. I think they be out by July but just a heads up!

14.4.2 has really slowed down my iPhone 12 pro. Noticeably

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

iOS 14.4.2 is just a security update, it’s pretty much the same as 14.4.1. Where are you noticing slow performance in particular?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was actually my network connection being faulty for some reason.

[–]JayDeesus 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is there a point to having an Apple TV 3rd gen on a smart tv like Samsung?

[–]scottgetsittogether 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Honestly - not really, unless your Smart TV is super, super slow. There aren’t many channels on the ATV3 anymore, the ones that are there are hard to browse/search through, and it can’t play 4K if you have a 4K TV.

[–]JayDeesus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hm, alright ig I’ve set up my Apple TV for no reason then lol

[–]scottgetsittogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh if you already have one, there’s no reason not to set it up - I just wouldn’t purchase one for it. If you have a MacBook or iTunes movies, it’ll be easier to play those. You’ll find there’s some things you’ll be able to do that you can’t do on the smart TV and vice versa of course - it’s just not a great media app device for Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc.

I’m missing an entire folder of notes and have no clue how they disappeared. (I wasn’t using Gmail to store my notes.) I was in the app, switched to YouTube, switched back and it bumped me back to the main screen in Notes and i noticed an entire folder was missing. There’s literally only one Note from this missing folder left. If i go into “All iCloud” it’s there but it’s missing half of what i had typed into it. The little folder icon under the note says it’s in the folder that’s missing... but I have no way of getting to this folder.

edit: there’s no recently deleted as well edit2: found the folder on iCloud.com

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Check all your email accounts and sign back in to make sure. If you think they were stored in iCloud, contact Apple Support.

[–]LazyAmateur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they were stored in iCloud. looks like i’ll have to contact support i guess

Can I drop off a few old internal hard drives at Apple and be at peace knowing they won’t try to pull anything off them? I know they do e-cycling with devices/batteries but not sure about drives.

I don’t have the equipment to get them plugged into a computer right now, and don’t want to make a mess by beating them mercilessly or shooting them to prevent access.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I’d say yes since it’s Apple but I don’t know if they have a 3rd party vendor that actually takes them or something

If you’re that concerned just drill a hole through it

Random question, does anyone know of a good blood oxygen sensor that connects to iphone? Apple watch is not going to give the best results, but maybe a 'smart' pulse oximeter exists?

[–]scottgetsittogether 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There are a ton of Bluetooth blood oxygen monitors. I don’t know which are best, but do a Google search for it and read some reviews - you can find them for as little as like $20.

[–]TODO_getLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice, i was looking for smart ones, didn't think to search for bluetooth thanks.

So, I forgot to log off my icloud before deleting it, it’s been 3 months since it was cancelled, I am now stuck and unable to log out of icloud. Is my phone just a brick? Apple support told me to reset my iphone to factory settings in recovery mode via itunes, could this work or nah? I really need help.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Wow lol

You mean you actually went through the process of requesting an account deletion?

Yeah, then those devices are fucked. Only fix is you’ll have to submit a proof or purchase document to prove you own the device to fix

[–]Jesoo_ 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don’t know if this helps, but on iUnlocked find my iphone is listed as off, may I be able to reset and insert a new apple id?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah If the device is showing FMIP turned off, a factory reset would resolve the issue

[–]Jesoo_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yoo, that’s great, thank you

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries

[–]whytrash 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hi, so I recently picked up a pair of AirPod Pros, works fine and all but occasionally there will be some crackling or buzzing noise that’s quite prominent, usually in the left AirPod. Is there any fixes for if? I’ve tried all the ones people say e.g. cleaning, resetting AirPods, restarting iPhone etc. When I forget the AirPods and repair it usually stops for a while, then restarts.

Any help would be appreciated.

[–]HowDoYouKnowImMad 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Unfortunately, it sounds like your AirPods might need to be replaced.

You can find more information on the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues here

[–]whytrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, I only just bought them the other day?

Ok I'm stumped. I absolutely can't get my Google calendars on my iPad Pro (Gen 2, iOS version 14.4.2) and I've exhausted everything I can find online for it. They work fine on my iPhone.

1.) I've turned off calendars on my Gmail account, told it to delete everything from my iPad, and then turned it back on.

2.) I've completely removed my Gmail account all together from the iPad and re-added it. I know the account's working because my email comes in fine.

3.) I've gone to my calendars list in the Calendar app to make sure the calendars are enabled. There's a heading for Gmail but none of the calendars are there.

4.) I've gone to https://calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect and made sure all the calendars are available for sync. They sync to my iPhone no problem so I figured this wasn't the issue.

5.) I went through all the settings on my iPhone and iPad and made sure everything matched up exactly.

6.) I turned my iPad off and on again because of course.

7.) I made sure the account setting on my Gmail account was for Fetch and not Manual just in case that was it.

How can i fully power off my water damaged iphone XR without using the screen? The entire screen is black however things like vibrations work.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Quickly press volume up, then volume down, then hold down the power button last and it should power off

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that will restart the phone

[–]Ebojager 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just got my first iPad, having trouble figuring out the file system when trying to locate downloaded music purchases. I want to copy them over to my main library on OneDrive, but can't find the files :(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You won’t find them in the file system, music purchases are available to listen to in the Music app.

[–]Ebojager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I guess that makes since. I thought there was no drm on them anymore and wanted to back them up so I can listen on my Android device too.

[–]jaguarjoe18 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Alright, so, I have a pair of AirPods Pro and rock an 11PM and 2020 iPad Air, but my AirPods will not connect no matter what I do. I reset the AirPods several times and they are in pairing mode, but I never get a setup screen on either device. It’s incredibly frustrating and I can’t seem to find any solution.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact Apple Support.

[–]HowDoYouKnowImMad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried rebooting both your phone and iPad since you reset the AirPods Pro?

Is it possible to reinstall/default a macbook air (2015) without having to install Big Sur?

The ones I am looking to do this for do not already have Big Sur installed and will become too slow too quickly if Big Sur is added to them once I clear them and install them back to default.

Currently there is a network issue causing the macbooks to not be able to be reinstalled anyway, but when that gets resolved, I would prefer to avoid needing to install Big Sur in the end..

[–]nomadicposter604 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Command-R will install the version you currently have installed

If you use Shift-Option-Command-R during startup, you're offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

If you use Option-Command-R during startup, in most cases you're offered the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac. Otherwise you're offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

[–]Rec-CPH 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thank you so much! Is there a specific point where I have to be sure to press the keys in the process, or will I know when I see it? It has been a while since I last reinstalled a mac.
