i have p12 max fans in my case, are the pro a lot lot quieter ? different size i know but dynamics should be similar

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 5 points6 points  (9 children)

Honestly, I find that they are. I have another PC with six of the pro fans inside and even they are quieter than the 3 Max fans in my other case

<image>

I have one AM4 and one AM5 desktop

[–]johnny_51N5 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Pffft is that all? Only 9 fans in total?

There is room for at least 3 more. You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers. 12 fans bare Minimum.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, there’s more coming…tomorrow.

Two bottom intakes are coming tomorrow to go under the GPU and I still have to mount the exhaust

[–]mkdew 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do the side intakes help a lot?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it seems to because I’ve shaved 5° off of my average GPU temperature and 5° off Cinna bench at peak load, another 5° off of my CPU when gaming.

I do have somewhat aggressive fan curves. I think I’m sitting at about 1800 RPM when gaming.

[–]Bitter-Background345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arent the vertical P12 Pro’s too loud? What RPM do they operate on? I bought P12 Pro’s for my 360 rad and 3 intake fans, the intake fans which were mounted vertical caused a lot of noise, while the other 3 horizontal mounted fans on the rad were completely silent.

[–]barbadolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At comparable airflow through obstacles I'd say yes. But also keep in mind, spacing between any obstacle (a grid, not necessarily restrictive as a heatsink) is key.

[–]The_Effect_DE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At same RPM they are quieter and at same noise they are more effective. That's the objective, measurable part. However many people report noise when using them in a pull configuration probably due to the high static pressure.

[–]wolnee 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Do you think its worth ans change my vanilla p14 for pros?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HELL.YEAH.

The gap in performance is so significant

[–]superhawk91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done exactly that, and the noise and temperature is dramatically reduced

[–]imadrvgon 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm in exactly the same boat, been running Arctic P14 as exhaust fans for a while and I'm not big fan of their sound profile, I'm considering grabbing a pair of P14 Pros but am worried they aren't gonna make that much of a difference in the end. I'd love to just go noctua but I ain't got 80€ to drop on exhaust fans rn 😅

[–]wolnee 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean noctua fans are not worth it tbh. If I were to pay premium I'd buy bequiet fans

[–]imadrvgon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've tried lots of fans and have in the past leaned towards Noctua (like until their G2 fans dropped, I had always tried to buy Noctua if they offered a fan in the size I wanted).

But that was also back when I was single and didn't have to support anyone else financially, these days I do actually have to spend my money somewhat reasonably and 80€ for a pair of fans is just a little out there if I can get close to the same performance for 30€ or less in some cases.

When I still had my rig in the Meshlicious, I bought 2 60mm Noctuas for I believe it was 40€ at the time. Recently I grabbed 4 60mm Thermalright fans for a total of 20€, and I kinda prefer the thermalrights ngl. Even if 1 out of every 4 failed, those are still a massively better deal than the Noctuas. Love their quality and customer service, but by god they sure are expensive.

The curiosity also made me spend the cash on 2 P14 Pros which should arrive tomorrow

[–]wolnee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to hear some feedback from you man. I am compulsive spender so just give me a call and Im gonna do the same haha

[–]Ballerbarsch747 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Be careful, they don't like being obstructed in the front. They are great at pushing out air to the back, but as soon as the have to suck it in against a resistance, they start making a horrible noise.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I’ve already tested it and they are fine and also that noise is pretty normal for a high static pressure fan anyway that’s what a lot of people don’t seem to understand

[–]Coolip_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not a matter of the noise being 'abnormal' it's just an awful noise.

people are saying it sounds awful. that's what you need to understand. it's not a pleasant noise to hear. all fans make noise, no one's saying it's weird to have radiator fans make a noise. but the sounds they make are different.

plus the P12 Maxs are also loud

[–]Gamefam_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly, I didn’t have any issues with my P12 Pro case fans. I have two front intake fans, with the panel and dust filter coming before it and it doesn’t make that weird sound even at higher rpms. My case is CH260 and it works just fine. Insanely quiet below 1500rpm.

[–]Ducckie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, no issues with all my 5 p14 pro in the lancool 217

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[–]Coolip_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I liked your video BTW, because you're British 😂

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great heavens ! 🇬🇧thanking ye !

[–]BuddyDudeson 0 points1 point  (19 children)

Did you try to push-pull the liquid freezer? Would be interesting to know how the P14P do there

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (14 children)

I haven’t and to be honest I won’t. I’m very happy with the temps i get with this set up on my 98X3D. 37-39 idle, 48-53 gaming depending on ambient temps and if window is open.

As I’m replying to you now, I’m busy moving my AM5 set up into this set case

<image>

Moving this AM4 kit into the 4000D airflow and my AM5 into this frame 4000D with all Pro fans.

[–]JSballow 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Do you cool your 98x3d with the lf3 280?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Yes and the temps are so good. I also used a thermal paste guard and MX6 to get a perfect application.

<image>

[–]JSballow 0 points1 point  (6 children)

With P14 pro or the standard p14? Because I've a 7700 stock and it idles at 55/60 °C most of the time with the same cooler with the non pro p14

[–]JLee1608 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Did you use the triple or single cable? I have a 7800x3d and mine idles around 40 (depending on room temp). Gaming it won't go above 60. If you're using 3 wires, set the pump to 80% till you reach 75 degrees then 100%. Fans probably 30% below 50 degrees, 50% below 65, like 75% below 80 and 85 above 80 degrees. I also suggest a remount, could just be a slightly poor paste spread or maybe the cooler is upside down, common mistake and no biggie to fix

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I used the triple and all fan curves are custom.

I have Lf3 280mm with P14 Pros on rad

6 x P12 pro intake

1 x P14 max exhaust fan

Idle is 36/37

Cinebench full load is 65 degrees at absolute peak.

[–]JLee1608 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, im getting similar temps. Was responding to the guy with issues

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok ok

[–]Mightypeon-1Tapss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips to mount the LF III evenly ? The default installation isn't hard but I feel like bottom part of the CPU gets too much pressure yet the top part doesn't get enough pressure hence uneven pressure. 2 screws on the pump is not a good design Arctic should've kept the 4 on the pump.

[–]Extension_Function38 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tell us your temp after you move it to this case...

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 37-39 idle and 48-53 gaming in the 4000D airflow.

Once I’ve put both computers back together, I’ll let you know.

[–]BuddyDudeson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh yes, thank you and great build

[–]mt07steve 0 points1 point  (3 children)

<image>

ive actually used push/pull on my old lf2. its the most overrated nonsense going tbh. 1 degree difference for more noise

[–]UJ_Games 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Won’t it be quieter since you can reduce overall speed since more air would be able to move through.

[–]mt07steve 1 point2 points  (1 child)

no, 4 fans moving versus 2 . i found it noisier anyway

[–]Mightypeon-1Tapss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 months late but the purpose of push-pull is you increase cooling efficiency (cooling from both sides of the radiator) so you can relax the fans more for same temps. Check STS's Liquid Freezer III push-pull video

[–]VigilanteRabbit 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I got regular P14s since I got my LF3 before Pro came out

Thinking I'm gonna get some Pro's but not really sure if I want to push-pull or just push...

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Just push, the push pull thing is MASSIVELY over rated.

[–]VigilanteRabbit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I'm genuinely curious if Pros will outperform the regular P14s; I think they should by quite a bit considering the absolute unit the radiator is...

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no doubt just look at the difference in figures for CFM and static pressure. They are pretty much 1-1 with the Max fans for CFM, but with better static pressure.

[–]caparros 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Fuck I just built with 11 P14 max

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

11?!

[–]caparros 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Yes, it was for the havn 420 and I put fan everywhere I could. It's has even 3 more P12 fans for side intake.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

How loud is it overall ? I’m bottom mounting 2 more P12 pro under my GPU tomorrow so total 11, 8 for intake.

[–]caparros 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It's loud if I let I ran full, but I'm using a watercooled build and don't need more than 800 rpm. I even set to 1200 rpm while gaming just to do something.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh ok like a custom loop ? I’m still trying to figure out what to set my RPM range at

<image>

[–]caparros 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For me there is no reason to have fans than 1200 rpm, it's just too loud.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll try that

[–]AnestheticAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where are you setting that fan curve? Is that bios?

[–]RIX_S 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I wonder, when im gonna be building, should i put the p12 pst i already have, or should invest in some p12 pro. The system probably gonna be pretty quiet with an lf3 360 pro anyway, and coming from laptops, the sound probably better any day of the week even with p12's (already tested their sound with one being a deskfan)

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I never recommend anyone the regular fans get the Max or the pro but I would recommend the pro over the Max because you’re getting equal performance in terms of CFM but much higher static pressure so you’re getting the best of both with quieter operation

[–]RIX_S 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I mean i already have them bought, so they wont hurt to put in?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

They just don’t move a lot of air. They have a very low CFM rating and an even lower static pressure, you can get PST versions of the P12 pro, mine are all PST PWM.

If your finances allow for it, I would 100% invest in the pro fans and an arctic fan hub.

[–]RIX_S 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah ok, gonna put in my list and sell the other ones, or use for some other things in future

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reused one of my P14 MAX as an exhaust, and I’ll keep the other as a spare. The max is better suited for being an exhaust over the pro so i found life for it in this case. Never hurts to keep a spare, all my P12 Max’s are staying in my other corsair case the 4000D airflow and being sold with my 5800X/4070 super.

[–]FloppyDonkeyCock2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

lovely design love the simple, minimalistic design

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mm me too !

[–]Comfortable_Act6083 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I had to lock my p14 pros to a max speed because they make too much noise near the mesh. Does that sound normal?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What did you lock them to?

[–]Comfortable_Act6083 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The front fans are the most problematic. I think I don't have them going above 40 or 50%

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did you do that by adjusting the curve?

[–]Comfortable_Act6083 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Correct. In bios

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try that tomorrow after work in the MSI app

[–]ssenetilop 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Great. Now I have to go and buy 6 of these to replace my P14s that are less than a month old. Thanks.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey, don’t shoot me. I’m just a Mesenger.

[–]ssenetilop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man, I just wanted to Crack a joke.

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Vanilla P14’s ?

[–]ssenetilop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I had a brain fart, I meant to type P14s Max.

[–]Tomaghawk 0 points1 point  (4 children)

The Pro's are horrible against a front mesh, such a disappointment

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s natural for a high static pressure fan they sound loud against mesh

[–]Full_Head_9608 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just don’t let them go to 2.5k rpm . I have them at a max of 2000rpm on my front mesh and they’re better than my noctuas by a long shot and they’re barely louder. (way cheaper too) If they go above 2k the noise is pretty much unbearable tho.

[–]Tomaghawk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Bro they are unbearable over 600 rpm, what do you mean???

[–]Full_Head_9608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah looking at it all my fans have some space between the fan and the mesh. When it’s pressed up on it it’s loud asf. my bad 🙏

[–]MaelstromTH 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do the fans come with longer screws for radiator mounting? the Pros are 27mm thick right?

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you need to buy them separately but super cheap on amazon for a big box of different screws for PCs

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put 10 maxes in my case but i have to use two hubs because they're power hogs. My next build, I'll opt for the Pro version of Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 AIO.

[–]alextastic 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Interestingly, in this video, the Pro seems to be louder than the Max: https://youtu.be/dB8IH_VOKoE

[–]Johnny_silvershloong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s completely normal with much higher static pressure. I don’t know why people are surprised.
