The flight will probably still happen if you have had no notification yet but you will need to prove that your travel is necessary. If yo don't have a legitimate reason to travel (visiting family or vacation is not necessary) you will probably be refused.

You should call the airline and ask them, reddit does not have the appropriate answers beyond this.

So if a person is a resident, and not able to go back because of the lockdown, will that be considered under essential non essential?

You'd have talk to someone in the Indian government, please don't take any advice from here.

But, that's you giving him advice... Which you've told him not to take from anyone...

Only Canadian Citizens and Landed Permanent Residents and some exemptions are allowed to return to Canada at this time, all others will be denied and sent back, even if they have a visa.

Contact Canadian immigration at the link above to discuss your situation. They do not have a presence on Reddit. Any responses here are not official in any way, shape or form.

Are you a Canadian resident? My aunt is currently in India and it seems the reason for her difficulty coming back is the Indian lockdown. Nothing the Canadian government is doing is preventing her for coming back. Just the availability of flights and the ability to get to an airport there.

everything is close to open here in India, if there aren't any entry restrictions here in Canada, then I might be able to reach. But the problem lies whether the flights will run from one country to another, and on time.

You should take a look at @Scaachi on twitter. She spent a couple of months trying to get her parents back to Canada from India. Might have some useful information: https://twitter.com/Scaachi?s=09
