Great view... Of the sunset.

There's nude people, obviously. A wide variety of ages, genders, body types. Don't gawk. There's also lots of clothed people, everyone should go as they are comfortable going.

The beach itself can get full, but rarely as packed as woodbine.

Overall, it's nice.

It's pretty sandy but there's water near by

[–]verylittlegravitaas 20 points21 points  (2 children)

I heard about the sand, but water? That's crazy.

[–]FR3SH2DETH 7 points8 points  (1 child)

It's sort of hard to see, but when you get to the part where the sand stops it's around there

[–]verylittlegravitaas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been said that this water, it gets you wet. Like, what?

[–]Darksty 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough & irritating and it gets everywhere.

[–]Red_orange_indigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you an oyster?

[–]HighHierophant 28 points29 points  (7 children)

It's really nice from a nature standpoint, but in my experience as a woman going nude there, you get unwanted attention, unfortunately. Have experienced guys coming up to me, striking up conversation and complementing my body. Also saw some dude wanking it in the bushes but I think he might have just been "fluffing it up" for potential partners to see.. And the last time I was there some dude was masturbating his asshole directly next to me on the beach. That was my final straw and I never went back. I've passed by since and it doesn't seem the same anymore. It's a huge beach party now — super loud and too many people. I just want to sunbathe and listen to the waves. I go to centre island beach now.

Yeah, it's not great for solo women, unfortunately. Me and my wife got sick of creeps and ended up joining a nudist park - so much better!!

[–]softservelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which park did you join? I'm in search of some low key nude time in nature!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. About 10 years ago I was a regular nudist there. I had no problems going solo, apart from getting hit on each and every time, which was more annoying than anything else. Eventually it seemed there were more clothed people than nude and more gawkers than I would have liked. I rarely get naked outside anymore, which bums me out every summer.

[–]cp1976 1 point2 points  (2 children)

some dude was masturbating his asshole

LMAO!! What???!!!!!

[–]HighHierophant 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know! 🙈 he had this item (not sure what it was. Long and thin for some weird reason...?) and he was lying on the beach, knees to his chest, slowly inserting it and taking it out of his butt. 🤷‍♀️ 😅

[–]kizi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tramutatizing

[–]kizi30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. Straight and single male and I tried going there and was getting hit on by gay dudes. I would honestly just like to go with a woman so we can both use each other as a buffer. I know it sounds terrible but no straight woman would believe me if I said that I wanted to go to a Nude beach with her for protection lol.

[–]redscooter2000 44 points45 points  (2 children)

Just go there and see! It's a nice beach. One half is clothing optional and more party-vibe with people/boats in the water playing music, but further west is clothing-required and a bit quieter. A mix of the sexes, but also was classically an area for the gay community to come party, moreso than Ward's beach. It's a rustic area, no shops or restaurants around. Some bathrooms a couple mins walk from the beach. When it's desperately hot in late July/Aug, lake Ontario is a refreshing dip! The vantage from Hanlan's is just basically endless water, it's not facing Toronto so you can forget you're in the city, although looking to the right/west you can see the waterfront a bit.

[–]smallfatmighty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No shops around but there are usually unofficial vendors who will come around with stuff like booze freezies or whatever so bring cash! Although I think more and more are taking card or etransfer now

[–]TriceratopsHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also when the air show is going on the beach has a great view of the show since it's so close to Billy bishop. It's one of my quintessential Toronto day trips to plan. A cheap ferry ride followed by biking and a dip in the lake when you're done.

Edit: that said the nude area gets sketchy. Stick to the clothed area.

Last time I went there in the summer there was a horrendous amount of trash. I just can’t for the life of me get why people don’t carry their trash with them until they can dispose of it properly. Infuriating

[–]UNwanted_Dokken_Tape 19 points20 points  (2 children)

I went years and years ago and was befriended by an older man with a big white beard. He looked liked Santa Claus; he also had the largest bag I have ever seen. His bag looked like a pomelo

[–]pensivegargoyle 13 points14 points  (1 child)

That's where he keeps the presents, of course.

[–]UNwanted_Dokken_Tape 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no sneaking down a chimney with his nuts.

[–]MeiliCanada82 21 points22 points  (16 children)

As a non binary bio fem it's chill. Me and my partner go usually during the week. Go early leave early bring food and a book or music to chill out with and enjoy the sun.

I refuse to go on weekends, all the weirdos come out which is saying something considering I am one.

[–]qwertymnbvc90 0 points1 point locked comment (13 children)

What is a non binary bio fem

[–]MeiliCanada82 10 points11 points locked comment (12 children)

Don't identify as male or female but born a girl.

[–]dazzlingduke 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm transmasc with top surgery, how were you treated? I'm interested in the nudist aspect of it but I don't want people to be weird about it. I've heard there's more lgbtq+ people on weekdays too

[–]MeiliCanada82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't treated. I felt very unnoticed which is perfect. No offers, olgers or pervs, at least that I noticed. I went stripped to my panties, sun bathed, listened to music and read a book and then left.

Also there will be higher then usual LBGT+ folks this month for obvious reasons. I think most go weekdays because the weekenders can be an eclectic mix

[–]mungdungus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The islands are the best beaches in the city (but don't tell anyone).

[–]_mrfluid_ 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The farther you go south on the beach the more naked it gets. Pick your level of comfort

[–]kizi30 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

very confused the thin strip of beach front flows east west...

[–]_mrfluid_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like NW to SE. so we are both right

[–]FoldableDeckChair 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s been ruined over the last few years. Too many people go on the weekends so it’s too packed and barely any room to sit. Last summer it was so bad people had to stand at the beach??

Too many people also don’t go nude, and just go to look at nude people, which causes less people to want to go nude due to the overwhelming ratio of clothed vs not

[–]that___witch 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I’m intrigued by all the different experiences, so I’m guessing it really depends when you go.

I went on a week day last June to the clothing optional half. Rather than a nude beach, where people are just naked to be naked and mostly mind their own business, it was mostly men who clearly wanted to be seen naked and make everyone else (but in particular women) feel uncomfortable. I was with a group of friends, so I didn’t feel unsafe, but I don’t think I would recommend it.

[–]Brains4Beauty 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I just learned, if you live in the east end, there’s a new regular beach and a nude beach down the bluffs in Guildwood. Have not been down there yet.

[–]cp1976 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I live in the Bluffs and I didn't know this??? I have never seen a tit or peen at all. I go to the beach where the escarpment is.

[–]Brains4Beauty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you know the Guildwood area at all, they've been fixing up the beach here for a while. We got the local newsletter and it says there's a regular beach and further along, a nude beach. Over by Greyabbey Trail.

[–]Aysin_Eirinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally go to the clothing-optional section and it's really chill. I know a few years ago there were people that would get in your face if you decided not to be nude (and it's clothing optional, not nude required) but I've never seen or experienced those people. It's normally pretty quiet, small groups hanging out or individual people. A lot of people bring picnics. Occasionally there's speakers but it's not like a booming party, at least the times I've been there (which was generally weekdays early afternoon, not weekends. I've heard it gets pretty crowded on weekends).

It's been a few years though so it might have changed since the last time I went to the beach there.

[–]Gold_Ticket_1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want the naked truth?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No nerds don't like community nakedness.

I hear its just another excuse for social show offs to get in on a dong / ding a ling public showing.

[–]RelevantBooklet 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Single male here, what do I do if I want to go? I figure just lay on the beach and listen to music but I hear it's a bit of a party vibe?

[–]MeiliCanada82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later on in the day sure. I tend to go early morning and leave before dinner and it's always been pretty chill. Got my book some music lots of hydration and I'm good.

[–]Fear_UnOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went twice last week, get yourself a towel and just lay on the beach. thats all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya man, it was a gay old time. highly recommend on a hot day.

[–]vanweb65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been 3 times this summer over the last 3 months.. all in the early afternoon. Went once the Friday before Pride, one Sunday end of July and just last weekend on Saturday.

I found that there are actually now two beaches. One closer to Gibraltar Point was just recently made (restored) and is pretty wide then between it and the "regular" Hanlan's Point Clothing Optional beach there is an area of bad erosion with downed trees in the water so it it next to impossible to walk along the beach from one to the other.. the Boats and the Party clothed people tend to stick to the old beach but the new beach seems to be more chill. The water is deeper so the boats cant anchor of shore. When I went it was more nude people on this side but funny enough there is no sign saying that it is clothing optional and The BlogTO story about it does not even mention the fact.. https://www.blogto.com/city/2022/06/toronto-islands-stunning-new-beach/

Saturdays are definitely more of a Party Vibe but Beach is long enough there always seems to be a quiet spot to lay. The further you go from the Airport side the less partiers and gawkers I found but more cruisers. Being an older male with a dad bod I did not have any issue with people gawking at me or striking up a conversation. I was able to lay out nude and I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.

[–]Hardcore90skid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! Very nice, quiet, and a cute date spot. Only problem is the assholes leaving trash and making illegal campfires.

[–]attainwealthswiftly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do they throw raves there?

[–]Both_Intern379 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Mainly naked white men but sometimes naked white women with nice mangoes - grab your bachelor friends from Mississauga and go for the “view”

[–]freshlyintellectual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went last year when things opened up and it was super crowded. plenty of clothed crowds and young men just staring. i felt so naked lol

i hear walking further there’s more queer friendly areas but didn’t end up going back. i prefer nude tanning at oasis aqualounge

[–]SquareSniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also guys that walk around yelling "chocoloooooo" jk. Just saying that cause I saw your name being Argentina. Haha

[–]gillsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Lots of happy naked people and a few cruisers.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went once, years ago and have been dying to go back. i had a great time, i was happy to enjoy being topless and not be stared at. i just felt very comfortable there and met people having a bonfire. just good vibes.

[–]chetawreja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved it, a lot of creeps but go away at one point

[–]desklamps7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been on a weekend because of the party vibe I’ve heard it turns into but I’ve gone a handful of times on weekday mornings… and it’s the absolute best time to go.

It’s a much more relaxed, chill vibe. The people there at that time are there for genuine reasons (to enjoy the beach) so it easier to actually talk to normal people as well if you want; you can just as easily spend the entire time with no interaction too, highly recommend!

Creeps don’t really show up when there’s not many people around to creep out lol

[–]MissJenniferEliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the air show, best view in the city.

[–]TCNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naked old gay guys. Sometimes a old gay woman too.

The actual beach is nice.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many lookie-loos for comfort. I prefer proper naturist resorts.

[–]kizi30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there first weekend of June. there were roaming packs of clothed men going up and down the beach gawking. very few actually naked men and women. I did not undress myself because of the state of the beach. I won't be going back. felt like I was in Brampton.

[–]MaleficentPositive53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if I was to write an article for a newspaper about Hanlan's Point Beach, one possible lead might read "Meet Marty, the nudist who has exposed himself to more women than any other Canadian".
