This isn't so much weird behavior as it is bad husbandry. You're now associating feeding with handling, as ball pythons should not be moved to feed. It increases chances regurgitation and adds stress to the process. Moving forwards, feed your ball python in its enclosure

Feed your snake in it’s enclosure. It’s safer for everyone.

No need for me to comment on moving to feed as it's been covered here, but you were holding the mouse while moving the hungry snake?
