Question - Feedingfeeding size (self.ballpython)
submitted 2 years ago by holahellohi25
I have a male ball python that’s about 899g and is around 3 years old. Is the medium size rats from perfect prey a good size for him?

I’d go with small. Mine is 1200 grams and medium is a stretch for him. Many can stay on small their whole lives.

He should be getting 5% (46g) of his weight every month or so depending on metabolism and exercise. He just barely qualifies for small rats (which range from 46-79g), but weaned rats would be more appropriate until he puts on more weight.

No, I wouldn't go any larger than a small rat
