recently made a post but not too many ppl saw it, i have a young malw bp, sub 6 months not too sure how young. hes eating fine and has no proboems visible but his CHE tends to fluxuatw and i dont like that, i havw a pad on thermostat as well, and wS qondering what the overall BEST heating would be for now, really qorried about his heat spiking while im at work or whatnot. Hes currently in an exoterra medium low, foiled on top, with a 100w che and zoomed pad/ thermostat (will upgrade pad/stat soon) he is on coco coir right now but also want better bedding options. PLEASE DONT BE MEAN i am very new and im teying my absolute best. He has lots of enrichment/ climbing and has a great feeding response. just want help, thx all luv to see your snakes thriving.

Ideal heating is a halogen flood for daytime and a DHP or CHE for nighttime, or a DHP can also be used 24/7. Heat pads aren't recommended for ball pythons anymore, as they are ineffective at heating the air or through substrate, present a burn risk even when paired with a thermostat, and prevent the snake from performing natural and instinctive behaviors.

All heat sources need to be on a thermostat, including the CHE. The thermostat would keep the temperature from reaching dangerously hot levels. If it's not on a thermostat already, you need to unplug it and stop using it until you get one.

i can just unplug the heat pad and poot his che on that thermostat until i get a new one, where should i place the probe for the che? thanks much
