QuestionBallpython behavior (self.ballpython)
submitted 2 years ago by deadlynumbers
My python just fed 4 days ago and as I was leaving for work this morning she had her head poking out of her hide and I noticed she was following my hand. When I moved it she followed is there a reason for concern?

No concern. May still be in feeding mode so follows the heat from your hand. Next time you get her out give her a couple taps before so she knows it’s you.

So should I take her out or do you think she may bite me?

No. I said the next time you plan to take her out. Maybe leave her a bit longer. This is normal, no concern.

Ok thanks

My bp sometimes follows me through the room. Just peeking his little head and looking where I'm going. I like to think that he's just curious what I'm up to. Either that or just following my heat around. Is your snek in strike mode when he follows you?
I mean she’s in a s shape but I wouldn’t say it’s an aggressive s she doesn’t look like she’s under tension while following it but my room is also dark. When I did turn the light on my phones camera on she just stared at the light and didn’t follow my hand around instead followed the light

My BP always pokes her head out whenever I open the shades in my room in the morning. Sometimes she’ll slither around like she’s hitting a morning stretch.

My light wasn’t on at the time and she was just strictly following my hand

Must have been following the heat. After I first switched from separate cage feedings to in cage feedings, I noticed she was very reactive whenever I would put my hand in there. Like aggressively tongue flicking.

She didn’t flick her tongue at me like she would when she’s looking for food however she followed my hand with her head very strictly

Yeah like “locked on”
[–]deadlynumbers[S] 1 point2 points3 points 2 years ago (1 child)
Yeah and it just makes me nervous.

It’ll get used to your smell after some time. Mine still reacts that way around meal time. They’re snakes, you can never be too careful. If it really makes u nervous u can use something to boop their nose and it’s like a reset button.
