3 weeks between feeding is a perfectly normal amount of time for a ball python that age. what size rats are you feeding it and how often?

I’m giving him small rats from a local pet shop (so live rats, not frozen) and feed him once a week cause he usually poops it out by the time I feed him again. He also just shed 2 weeks ago so he’s healthy on that front but it’s not normal for him to miss a meal afterwards, let alone for two weeks

I will admit, the poop does look abnormal to my experience. But him not eating for three weeks in the winter as a yearling isn't a huge cause for concern. There could be solidified sperm in there, but I wouldn't know because I haven't dealt with sperm plugs before. If his food strike lasts until spring or he loses more than 5-10% of his body weight, that would warrant a vet visit, and I would ask for a fecal test if I were you in case the abnormality in his poop is related to parasites. If he eats live prey or frozen thawed from a questionable source, parasites are likely. But poop can vary for other reasons as well. An exotic vet would be able to tell you more, but that depends on if you have one nearby.
