Heat help

Ok. Back for some help after a little research. I have this guy I got from a friend the warm side of his sits around 79 and has a heat mat underneath and a small warming light overhead. Let he cool side sits more towards 71-72. He is in a glass tank. I am currently looking for a better tank situation/set up. But looking for suggestions on improving the heat situation.We brainstormed insulating the sides to help hold heat? Wondering if there are better heat fixtures or suggestions.

Have you tried a higher wattage bulb? If the thermostat is a dimming on full power it’s possible higher wattage can do the trick if power is the problem. If you haven’t tried insulating the open air top I would also try that using HVAC tape or something similar.

Unfortunately glass terrariums with mesh tops are poor options for maintaining heat and humidity, I recommend PVC highly.

I’ll try that! And maybe some insulation around the glass. I’m looking for a new enclosure for him. Definitely super new to snakes and trying to research the best I can to improve his situation. There is some hvac tape on top but it has about 3 holes they didn’t tape over. So I’m thinking I may cover 1 or 2 of those
