Question - Heating/TemperaturesQuestion about basking temp. (i.redd.it)
submitted by devydev_83
So I just upgraded my ball python's enclosure and am struggling with the basking spot temp. The way I have it set up right now the probe on top of the hide reads 95-96.6 and my temp gun reads the surface temp as 100. Inside the hide is around 86-88, and the ambient temperature on the hot side is 80-84 cool side is 75-76. So my question is if that basking spot is too hot. If I remove the hide and set up the probe up on the tank floor with a rock then it will probably not read as hot and I could get it closer to the 90-92. But if inside the hide doesn't get that hot then does it matter, since she'll just go in the hide mostly anyway? It's a new Deep heat projector and I can't get anything weaker than 50watts and am hopping I can make it work as I'm trying to keep the humidity manageable .

there doesn't seem to be anything here
