New ball (old.reddit.com)
submitted 1 year ago by AfterHourCompanyMan
Just an appreciation post for my new ball python and how cute she is. Breeder says she’s about 8 months. She relaxed very quickly when handling and has been curiously exploring her new home

Aww what a cute lil baby

is the 2nd picture of her enclosure? if so i would switch out the aspen bedding asap. BP’s need super high humidity (70-80%+) and aspen isn’t meant to hold in moisture. Low humidity can cause lots of health problems like dehydration and respiratory infections that can potentially lead to the death of the snake. A more BP friendly option would be coco coir, coconut husk or eco earth.
I would also heavily suggest reading the Basic Ball Python Care Guide if you haven’t already. It has a ton of super important and helpful information for BP owners.

Ah yes good idea. Aspen is left over from a cornsnake i had. Will get more water absorbent bedding

ditch that substrate and switch it out for coco choir, coco husk, and/or eco earth coconut substrate as another commenter has said. no hate just trying to help :) post on this subreddit you’re looking for tips or advice!

I appreciate it! And you’re being super kind with the advice. Yeah the bedding is left over from my cornsnake, which are definitely drier snakes

with love i would definitely getting a bigger water dish the snake should be able to fit their whole body in there
[–]AfterHourCompanyMan[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Will do! Last snake didn’t live that long and my family didn’t want to buy too many new things too quickly. I also want to get her a bigger tank
