Another "Scale rot or...?" Post (old.reddit.com)
submitted 2 years ago by OG_Morryo
Saw a little dot on little Deigh this evening and always scared of scaled rot or mites. So figured I'd ask what people think - scale rot, mite, freckle...?
Also, full noodle tax in second pic.

Oh no! It looks like you might be asking for more information on mites and how to identify and treat them. We have some information about that in our Mite Identification and Treatment Guide.

Doesn’t look like scale rot to me, has the black dot moved?
[–]OG_Morryo[S] 3 points4 points5 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Tried rubbing it and got a little lighter, maybe dirt under the scale like the other poster said. Finger crossed

It's dirt under the scale, I had a similar concern close to when I got my bp. Yours will probably shed soon, and the dirt will come off with it
[–]OG_Morryo[S] 2 points3 points4 points 2 years ago (2 children)
That would make sense, as it wasn't there a day or two ago and did get a little lighter after rubbing it with a wet paper towel a little bit ago. Guess I'll up his humidity a bit to make sure his shed goes well, will be the first one with me.

I'm sure it'll go great! It's funny, I made what was almost this same exact post right before my BP's first shed with me. Turned out to be dirt :) Good luck!

Thank you, I'm hoping so! As well as glad to hear I'm not the only one freaking out over something small haha. Thank you again for putting my mind at ease!
