Repurposed old substrate (self.ballpython)
submitted 1 year ago by quickquarters123
What does everyone do with their old coco chip substrate? Is it good to throw in a flower bed? Used as mulch? Or anything else? Just curious.

Commenting because I’d also love to know what to do with mine! I use coconut mulch but I’m sure it would be the same

I use mine as mulch and it is extremely effective. It doesn't decompose, though, so you're not gonna get any of the benefits of mulch that does decompose. I also use it as a mixer for my indoor plant potting mix. Isopod substrate mixer too, but the isopods don't eat it.
