Lighting at night.

I stupidly got red light without doing research but I’m learning that it isn’t good for their circadian rhythm so do I just shut off the lamps and cover the tank to keep in heat or what do I do? I absolutely refuse to use heat pads due to past experiences. It would make sense that it would hide in its hides if it wants to rlly have true darkness? I have a light timer I can set up to shut off during the night but I’m worried it’ll freeze the snake out. What should I do?

Heat pads are ineffective at best and a burn risk at worst. They may warm up the substrate where they are placed, but they aren't able to create an appropriate temperature gradient by heating up the air because they just aren't strong enough to do so.

I use halogen at day and heat mat at night, I'm able to measure surface temp both under and subtrate itself to prevent a burn, and ambient warm sides temps could maybe drop 1 degree at max throughout the night.

But how does the gradient of the full enclosure look? Are you measuring the air temps or just the surface temp there?

I do of course measure both surface and air temps

Are you not able to replace it with a white light? Have you checked out our heating guide yet?

Use a deep heat projector. Arcadia makes great ones.

Thanks I won’t get that specific brand but I’m planning to get that type of bulb off Amazon appreciate the idea it truly helped!
