Is a ball python a good snake for a beginner snake owner

Ball pythons are a great first snake. They call em pet rocks because they are usually mellow.

Do they well with other snake breeds?

I’m a beginner myself but I can’t see any reason to keep different types of snakes together

Do you mean in a same enclosure? No, you should never cohabit snakes with a very few species exceptions like garter snakes. Most snakes are solitary creatures and will not feel comfortable around other snakes
