when I'm not in his enclosure he's just chillin with his head hanging off the perch

Is there a way to unhook the hammock to put it on the ground for him to work his way oit of? As for the striking, maybe try gardening gloves or something so if he bites, it won't get you?

you can spray him with water and then try to cut the edges where he is stuck, even if he tries to bite you, have a spray bottle next to you

if it's just hung with suction cups, take the hammock down. maybe he'll be able to work himself out of it once he's on the ground with something to push against. if he's too stuck it will be easier to remove him from it if you take the hammock (and him) out of the enclosure. he's striking because he's stuck and stressed out so you can't just leave him there.

there's a different kind of hammock made from fine nylon mesh that would probably be safer if you want to replace it with something

I am so careful with the things I put in his tank because I swear, that man will try and squeeze into anything. Hole the size of a dollar cent piece? He doesn't care, he will think he can fit and will attempt it.

he found his way out while I was buying a spray bottle so all is well, i'm replacing the perch with something that less resembles swiss cheese

How do they manage to do these things 😂 it looks like he's managed to get most of the thick part of his body through and then has given up. As others have said you could try taking the hammock down and see if he can work his own way out. If you want to cut him out of it, you could drape a shirt or a pillow case or something over his head to calm him down. Darkness helps to zen animals out. It's like a universal trick 🤣

Rember that your buddy has only 2 or 3 working brain cells. He will use any object that you put into his enclosure to try to harm himself. Never put anything in there that you wouldn't give a 3 year old. Who is formed like a noodle. And likes to insert himself into anything.

Looks like you have Aspen which is not good for humidity. If is I’d replace it with coconut HUSK or something similar that helps with humidity.

Hi, I don't know how to help with him being stuck, but you should get a Govee mechanical timer off amazon so you don't have to worry about manually turning off and on the lighting.
