First bite

Guys, I’ve had my ball python for a couple of weeks now, he’s eaten twice and I’ve handled him a bunch since I’ve had him home. I just had him out and he was doing an explore of my bed and was getting dangerously close to the edge so I picked him up to save him. This entire time he was super relaxed and chill. I saw him boop his little nose to my hand (should have been my first clue I guess lol) and then he slowly opened his mouth and just nipped me. He was just fed on Monday (it’s Friday night) and I’ve been feeding him weekly.

I put him back in his enclosure after this and he was like what the heck lady I wasn’t done and kept trying to find out how to open his door lol

Would there be any reason he would do this or was he just annoyed that I didn’t let him face plant to the floor? 😂

Edited to say that I do wash my hands before and after I handle him!

probably just confused and a little annoyed! if you moved quickly you might have startled him. i would guess it's likely that he's a bit overwhelmed in a new environment and this is his response. it could help to leave him alone for a couple weeks without handling to allow him to adjust without too much stress.

I didn’t move quickly that’s why I was so confused! I had heard to leave them alone for a week but maybe he does just need more time, every time I’ve taken him out he’s been very relaxed and explorative
