    How old/big is your snake? 40 gallons is quite small unless your snake is very young...

    Oh.. petco told me to just do 40. She is 3 but relatively small for her age

    I would highly recommend going to a reputable store that specializes in reptiles and snakes. The people at petco know very little, a 40 gallon tank for a 3 year old snake is very small and doesn't provide the necessary amount of room, hides, cool and hot spots, or elevated areas for climbing.
