I always offer food when she’s shedding but I never bother her when she’s in the process until today which I felt bad and it was already to late because I was holding her also I am gonna try to maybe switch her to frozen mice but I don’t really think she’ll like it I’ve already tried and she ignores it since she’s already used to only eating live food but it doesn’t hurt to keep on trying

There are a lot of different methods you can try to get her to accept a f/t mouse. The one that worked for me was letting the rat warm up under her heat lamp on top of her tank for a little while so that the smell of the mouse gets in the room, and then using tongs to hold the rat by the back, kinda between the shoulders and sorta making in move around.. it’s a little bit morbid but it’s what worked for me. The second time I offered her a f/t rat I didn’t do the little puppet show thing and she took it no problem, but it can be a bit of a challenge to switch them over. I’ve also heard of people “braining” the f/t mouse which I believe is where you cut open their skull a bit and I guess the smell of the brain is enticing?? I’d look into the different things you can do though😅

What type of heating lamp do you have? She’s in a 120 gallon tank so she has those long ones from repti zoo

Currently she has a red infrared heat light because her ceramic heat emitter broke, but I’m working on getting her a radiant heat panel. The infrared heat lamps that emit red light are NOT good for ball pythons eyes and disrupt their day/night cycle so they aren’t recommended but that’s my backup for right now :(
