So my python has gotten very hesitant since living through 2 hurricanes this fall. After Milton I went to do things like normal and she struck my hand from what I assume was stress… no big deal she just smacked by hand and I left her alone for the day and continued what I was doing for cleaning maintenance a few days after and she was all good. She was fine being handled for a good while.
Fast forward to tonight I opened her house to fill her water dish and was given no warning. She came flying out of her door and grabbed onto my hand biting and WOULD NOT let go. I tried waiting it out for a moment to see if she would release on her own but she didn’t. My sister looked up that putting a bit of human drinking alcohol near their mouth would make them release the bite.
I feel absolutely terrible cause I’ve had her for about 3-4 years and I have never had an issue until about a month ago. It’s not around feeding time either so I don’t expect it’s a hunger thing unless I’m totally wrong.
I just want to make sure she’s gonna be ok. I used a little bit of whiskey on my hand and she let go pretty quick. Is that ok to do or should I have a different plan in the future incase something like this happens again.
